well, that's it, my friends.  i put my iphone into stopwatch mode and timed myself for zeromus.  it took 2 tries, and on the second, he went down in 9:36 at 150fps, instead of my standard 225. :banonsmash: my final levels were like so: kain, rydia, james, rosa, cipher - 59, 56, 60, 57, 57.

jce, that was honestly the most fun i've had playing a video game in probably 5 or 8 years.  thanks so much for making this, i enjoyed it immensely.

What was he like the first time when you died?  And thanks for the kind words.

Since you're a programmer if you can get the hang of rom hacking maybe you can make a full fledged editor for FF4/2us.

the first time, he hit me with a big bang and then a spell, after i had just had globe199 cast on me once, thereby completely crippling me in roughly 3:45.

i'd love to build an editor if i can work up some real experience and get better at c++.  i'd rather take advantage of the speed of c++, even though java is much simpler for me.

edit: i was thinking, this isn't the proper forum, but would you mind me extending the scope of this topic to my playthrough of ff3us ht also?  just so i can ask questions, etc? i want to start that up preferably tomorrow.

Sure, some say the FF3usHT is a bit more thorough in me not having as many bugs and or oversights.

The best ASM tool is infact the SNES9x tracer that EvilPeer/Geiger wrote.  And there are quite a few people here who are pretty proficiant in ASM that cna help you.  I'm a noob at assembly.

*I went ahead and changed the topic title to reflect FF3usHT playthrough.

thanks a lot for the commentary, jce.  where can i find something to disassemble 65c816(that's correct for the snes, right?)?

is the snes9x tracer hosted over at zophar?

thx for changing the topic title, also.   :cookie: :cookie:

also,  thanks to jce, dkk, and deathlike for everything that they've contributed to the ff2/4 community.  and to jce and deathlike for accompanying me through this game via this topic.

Give the romhackers the most credit, because a lot of this was known way before I even stepped foot here. A lot of stuff is derived from existing knowledge, so I can't take credit for much to be honest.

Well, I don't know about the rest of the guys but I'm never one to demand credit for my information, anything I release publicly is just that - public - and anyone can benefit from it. The only thing I dislike is when someone rips off information and tries to say it's their own, which has never happened to me.

By the way, you asked where to get more information: http://pages.videotron.com/zyrthofr/

Quite a bit of his notes are missing from the site but there's some good stuff there, plus you can grab a copy of his editor which is pretty good for viewing data, less so for edits (I use the item and magic editors a bit, easier than doing everything in hex, and haven't have any problems with them).

posting while driving(aka while sitting at red lights)  is a new arena for me, so here goes. Thanks a lot man, I really appreciate the push in the right direction and the new link.  Can't wait to get home and try the editor out.

Tile Molester is the only one I can think of that was done in Java, it's a tad slow to load but the editor itself is fast enough. I hear newer versions of Java are actually getting pretty fast, so if that's what you know go for it.

It's always worth answer it with... why not?

It's one of the few commands that isn't automatically killed due to Magitek status (if you've ever used Gogo in Cyan's Dream, you would understand).
