It's always worth answer it with... why not?

It's one of the few commands that isn't automatically killed due to Magitek status (if you've ever used Gogo in Cyan's Dream, you would understand).

i've never acutally used gogo in cyan's dream.  interesting. i guess it would be worthwhile to mimic tekmissile while fighting the whelk.

edit: i'm in the middle of fighting whelk, and i want to say that mimic-ing tekmissile is an EXCELLENT idea.

edit2: that was a cinch with wedge doing his mimic thing!

edit3:  krysta? and she has health? interesting...

i couldn't bring myself to make an edit4...

ok, so i'm in the caves, and since terra can heal herself for free, i'm gonna gain a level or 5.

edit: one of those "dood" creatures just killed himself with a wrench. is that a mistake? i'm gonna level to 6 and call it there.

edit2: bout to take on the marshall w/ guy's team...   aaaand, i stole his item. defense something?  moogle's armor can be used by krysta?? pretty neat.

Tile Molester is the only one I can think of that was done in Java, it's a tad slow to load but the editor itself is fast enough. I hear newer versions of Java are actually getting pretty fast, so if that's what you know go for it.

ok, so i went to the website and looked around.  interesting stuff, thanks.

That's normal. It happens in the original game.

Yea.. but I'm trying to recall if the targeting of that was random though... not that it matters. IIRC at random it is used against Terra as a death counter .

from what i remember, it's used as an attack once the monster is alone in ff3.  in ht, it seems to use it at random.

well, jce, until i hear from you about some way i can fix this problem with my rom, i guess i'll replay ff4a pal version(i can't wait to try it out without all the bugs!) i tried zsnes and snes9x, the newest versions. also, i tried patching a few different versions of the rom. so wierd that it just dies there. anyway, hope there might be a fix soon, cause i'm pretty anxious to play it.

edit: i'm gonna try one more "unofficial build" of snes9x...

edit2: i'm using snes9xpp SE', and things are running beautifully so far.

Are you sure you patched a clean ROM? JCE and I both have copiers and I know he played through this on his, I'm fairly sure I did on mine as well. If you want I can give it a try on bsnes real quick, I'm too lazy to hook up my SNES.

Edit: Verify your clean ROM with NSRT: http://www.romhacking.net/utils/400/

what's bsnes? a (new) emulator?

and, thanks for the help, but things seem to be running along beautifully on this emu.  maybe it was a problem with snesgt? if it happens again, i'll verify it.  i know that i've patched different copies of this rom before and never, ever had a problem. i can pull the ff3 rom out of my goodrom (goodsnes?) snes rom set that i have and is verified, if there's another problem.

that's a neat utility, btw. i'm gonna hang on to it.

edit2: is there a legitimate back row in ff3? if not, did you put one in?  i only ask, because terra/krysta is having a hell of a time hitting as mouse that looks like it would be in the "back" enemy row.

edit3: i did remember to make plenty of save games and states, so if this rom doesnt work either, i can patch a verified good one, and start up form where i left off.

edit4: won me a nice wooden shield!! guy can use the extra def!

well, snes9xpp SE didn't work. time to re-patch my rom. i also switch ips patchers from snestool to lunarips.  i've read that lunarips is a better utility. comments?

also, is bsnes up on zophar?

ok, re-gettin the patch... check
copy/pasting a verified good dump to my desktop to patch... check
old rom deleted... check
ok, repatched... check

time to start the new one up.. nope. i think i see the problem here. just a sec...

yup, just confirmed it with nsrt, the problem was that the rom was unheadered.  it played fine until i had to leave narshe, then died.

I doubt bsnes is on ZD, the site hasn't been updated in...uh, forever.

http://byuu.cinnamonpirate.com/bsnes/

You need a fairly good computer to run it but it's the closest you can get to actually playing on the console.

Snestool doesn't utilize RLE compression in patches like most patchers do. Don't use Snestool for patching. LunarIPS will be good til the end of time, or IPS's death, whichever comes first.

No. ZD hasn't updated in 3 years, and it's turned itself into a  museum.

--Edit--
DKK beat me to the punch.

thank you.  i built this machine, and i'm pretty sure it's able to run most anything i throw at it.  just to put it out there, i run windows server 2k3 as my desktop os of choice. i converted it into a workstation, and it runs ROCK solid. just in case anyone is looking to change operating systems. :)
