Gaming Discussion / Re: Getting games to work on MSX 2 emulators
« on: June 11, 2011, 06:00:30 PM »
I want to play through it and record the soundtrack as well.  I've got all the roms/dsks but not matter what I do they won't run.

I will check out RHDN to see if they can help if the CTRL key won't work.

Gaming Discussion / Getting games to work on MSX 2 emulators
« on: June 10, 2011, 09:15:37 PM »
God, for the life of me I cannot run a single MSX 1 or 2 game.  The emulator websites and forums are worthless for information.

BlueMSX or NLMSX are the two emus in question.

I need help.

*edit*
I get this screen when trying to run Final Fantasy (1989)(Micro Cabin)(jp):

You could repoint that event to an empty portion of the ROM and rewrite the event commands to ensure the right characters are being used...and actually this would allow you to expand the event if you wanted to.

Well, in the ROM I'm using, the pointers there match your "Pointers to something part 2".

On a different note, back when I read Japanese RS3 documents, IIRC, they believed that LAL indeed uses the RS2 version of the engine, but without the weird tempo difference.

Maybe I have a bad ROM?  I'll go get another one.

After looking at the data again I've come to the conclusion that I made a wrong note for my doc txt.

Vehek, that offset you posted does not show any pointer format I know of for Square games.  Perhaps this game needs more dissecting.

So what SPC core does Live a Live use? Is it similar to FFIV's and/or FF MQ?

Live a Live to my knowledge actually is the second Square game to use the core for RS2, FF6, the BS games, CT and RS3.  Romancing SaGa 2 came out in 1993, while Live a Live came out in 1994 before FF6.  Does this answer your Q?

Enjoy everyone!

Can we get a corrected link?  If needed someone here can host the document.
