(Version 0.5)

Here is what i can recall from my memory, as i wasnt expecting to post this :P

First impressions were a little mixed. The goblins were a PAIN...i used all my potions by the time i got Galuf and the other... The problem i have with this is that there is no real room for...advantages, skills, or tactics to take place... You are stuck with no real equipment, and even less of a job. There is not much you can do differently from other players and it is more often than not frustrating.

After this however, i thoroughly enjoyed it as far as i have gone.

My first REAL problem was with Siren. I completly forgot to stock up on potions, so i was pretty much screwed with her. and i mixed my strategy to make the best of the situation.

I kept Butz a Monk, So i have some decent form of physical abuse, but i made Faris and Lenna Black mages, to spam fire on her undead(?) form and galuf to cure when needed and to cast cure on Sirens undead form as well.

She went down easy after i adapted to that. Normally, i wouldve just spammed a few potions and such and be done with it. but even if i had some potions, thsi fight would not have been much easier.

Everything went rather smoothly, i leveled up a bit, cause i noticed some enemies were just wiping the floor with my mages, even when in back row... But after a few levels i moseyed on up the mountain to the hyryu(i cant remember hwo to spell it) Magissa was a BITCH. holy crap i never thought such an easy boss could be made so hard, so unexpectedly. it was nuts! xD but i enjoyed the challenge, and i tackled it with my Faris as a knight, And just having her !Protect until someone needed healing. Galuf casted Safe and Cure when needed, until i ran out of mp :P...but magissa didnt last much longer after i did.

Everything was pretty good, moving smoothly with few resets and general tactics and some grinding.

That is until i got to the Steam Ship.

The "Fake Queen"(cause i cant remember the damn fire elementals name) was rough. I ABSOLUTLY had to open the fight with her using flame spiral, so she wouldnt OHKO my mages. With no form of magic defense, i was very vulnerable this time, and relied on Excellent timing, and overall good-luck... all in all, a frustrating fight, with over 23 resets. This didnt deter me from completing it as far as i can though.

Mostly NO trouble after this. And i ended safely at the end of the hack at the start of the desert <3

I'm not too far yet (Siren absolutely kicked my ass), and I have to say there's some inconsistent health here. The Goblins all have absurd amounts of HP, while just about everything else still dies in 1 hit.

It's relatively slow gaining AP, but I expected that. Nothing's too tough or too easy yet, except for Siren, which I still cannot beat. At least there's a free inn next to her, so I can keep trying.

119 bugs fixed and counting.

Agreed! Goblins are way to hard. Especially because you have a limited amount of potions, only one character at the beginning. I cant tell you how many times i have had to restart the entire game, before i got to the over world, because i got unlucky and missed a goblin once, and caused a battle to last alot longer than it should.
That was just in version 5, too...
Ima start a new game for Version 6, now that im back from thanksgiving break, because its been over a year since ive tested :P

Log: Made it to Walse/Worse Castle.

Wing Raptor: Not too difficult, definitely had to bring the potions for this guy though.

Whirlpool Monster (can't remember his name): By this time I had a White Mage (Lenna) with basic Black Magic, two Monks (Bartz & Galuf), and a Blue Mage (Faris) with Vampire, Aero, and Goblin Punch. Lenna was the whole reason my team survived as the Boss was unrelenting with Tailscrew. Meanwhile my two Monks and Blue Mage dealt the damage. Great challenge.

Siren: I had my Potions prepared in case I needed them, but I focused Lenna on healing. Nothing changed overall between my teams except Bartz and Galuf had changed classes (Thief and Fighter respectively). I gave each of them Brawler because the occasionally Crit out-damaged either class. I had difficulty keeping the damage up as Siren shifted between living and undead. Faris cast Aero which did surprisingly powerful damage and sometimes Vampire whenever Siren was mortal. Overall, I didn't have any major problems, but my advice is to anyone facing her is to collect as many Phoenix Downs as possible before the fight. I remember using around two.

Magissa & Forza: Kudos on this fight. Magissa was a beast but Forza was cake. The party remains the same, Fighter (Galuf), Thief (Bartz), Blue Mage (Faris), and White Mage (Lenna). By this time I had Mute for Lenna and Flash for Faris, both of which were vital to Magissa's defeat. She not only liked tossing around magic, but the amount of buffs and healing magic she placed on herself kept my team from killing her for a long time. Lenna focused on Muting her, while Bartz and Galuf pummeled her even after she placed Protect on herself. This fight might have been easier if I had made Faris a Black Mage because Lenna was by far the strongest damage dealer because Magissa never cast Shell on herself. Forza on the other hand was like a Berserker, and while blinded he hit around 10% of the time, which was still dangerous because he dished out 100 HP per hit.

When Magissa had Protection status, I aimed Bartz and Galuf on Forza who had no defense. The main problem I faced during this fight was the persistent Buffing by Magissa, so between healing and nuking Lenna was also the Silencer. With Magissa silenced she would waste turns trying to heal herself and Forza, yet the status wore off, worse yet it would wear off quicker because she had cast Haste on herself.

Eventually she died, and Forza along with her. Towards the end, she kept casting Cure on herself recovering 100 HP per spell. It annoyed me to no end, but it was also fun. I look forward to whatever hell the Liquid Flame has to offer.

I started with the fears that this was simply an expert hack that made enemies hit you harder. What I got was something unexpected. I am looking forward to further advancements of your mod.

UPDATE: Made it to Garula fight.
Despite his heavy hitting, all it took was a dose of Flash to nerf any threat he had. Kinda disappointed he wasn't harder.

Thanks for all replies!
Any feedback will come in handy, especially Darksun's extensive post.

HP inconsistency
I realize, like Lenophis said, that the monsters HP levels are somewhat inconsistent, especially in the early stages. I will most likely fix this, but seeing as this is not a bug but more of a design flaw, it will probably happen in v0.7 (this policy is for me to be able to look back on previous versions and learn from earlier mistakes).

Boss difficulty
There seems to be some varying opinions on the difficulty of certain bosses, especially the earlier ones. These bosses are somewhat special since strategy is the only real factor for winning. My idea was to require certain strategies - but not specific team setups - in order to win. E.g. to beat Siren you will have make use of Row/Defend in order to survive her undead form. To defeat Magisa and Forza, status magic is almost a requirement (as an alternative you can wait for her to deplete her MP and render her useless). LiquiFlame is especially tough because it heals itself if you hesitate to attack.
Let me know if you think the bosses should be easier and/or require less strategy to beat.

Apparently Galura is vulnerable to Blind status. This is a mistake on my part and I will be sure to give him status immunity before the v0.6 release.
