I hate Hillary, and I thought I'd do better with McCain.  Oh well, I'm not voting because I don't like anyone actually.  And that is my form of protest is not to vote.

I tried to take the Democrats' test... but 8 questions in, and so far the answers are so close to each other that I can't make a meaningful decision.

Apparently I fall much closer to Clinton in the Democrat's poll (45-30)... doing the Republican poll now...

Edit: I'm kinda shocked.. I fall closer in line with Mitt Romney with 33 pts (Huckabee 18, Paul 15, McCain 9)

I guess that's not surprising as to why Romney won in MA.

There was an article on Digg last night that was "10 reasons to choose Obama", and the Digg community was UP IN ARMS because most of the reasons were ideological things, like his ability to inspire, etc.  Everyone said "OMG WHAT ABOUT HIS STANCES ON THE ISSUES", but the reality is that Clinton and Obama's stances on the issues are so close together that you can't even tell which is which on a political test.  The ideological issues become more of a factor when they both have the same goals.

I would take those tests but it's pointless now..

On the Dem side there's not a dime's worth of difference between Obama and Clinton on the issues that one is a popularity contest. Besides the stupid thing about the democrats is that 40% or so of the available delegates are "Super Delegates", party big-wigs like Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, etc... who get to vote independently at the convention. It is possible to get a majority of state delegates and still loose the nomination if you can't rally Super Delegates. Most of those will probably go for Clinton in the end.

As for the Repubs, Mitt Romney was being double teamed by McCain and Huckabee. Now that he dropped out after his speech at C-PAC yesterday McCain is the go-ahead nominee. Huckabee doesn't have much of a chance in hell at the nomination and will probably just stay in for a bit since he hasn't had any money anyway. That and is still picking up votes in the south. He might have a longshot in Texas but I doubt it. I don't know why Ron Paul is still in, I guess just to make noise...

I'd say it's going to probably be Clinton vs. McCain, but if the Giants can win the Super Bowl then it could possibly be Obama.

I haven't been happy with any of the candidates and like JCE, may sit this one out (well at least not vote for President or write in someone random on my ballot) as well as an informed non-voting voter.

Bah at these egotistical beauty contests.  :bah:

Time just did a poll.

Clinton vs. McCain
Clinton 46%
McCain 46%

Obama vs. McCain
Obama 48%
McCain 41%



I think as the convention approaches, if Obama is winning in pledged delegates, and especially if he's winning the popular vote, there will be enormous pressure on the superdelegates by the DNC to vote for the front runner.  If the superdelegates nominate Clinton when she's trailing in the pledged delegate count, it will be nothing short of party suicide.  I think they will eventually realize that, or Howard Dean (DNC Chair) will attempt to make them realize it.  :)

Michigan may petition the DNC to allow them to hold a caucus and have their delegates counted.  Note that Clinton "won" Michigan's primary, but without Obama or Edwards on the ticket (since it wasn't going to count).  If Michigan holds a caucus, this *could* be to Obama's advantage since he tends to do very well in caucus states, but it's difficult to say by how much.  Also, Florida is trying to get its delegates counted, but what they're saying is that the DNC will add up the total popular vote from all the primaries, and split Florida's delegates by exactly that proportion (which is looking to be 50/50).  Tricky!

Just for the record I don't live in either Michigan or Florida...

But if I were a Card-Carrying Democrat in those states I would feel awfully disenfranchised by the party for them penalizing the states just for moving up their primaries.

I think it would behoove the DNC to allow FL and MI to caucus in the convention and let their delegates vote. Especially as close as it's looking to be.

I do agree that if Obama pulls ahead to a fairly obvious front-runner position then the party will probably pressure the super delegates into voting for him. However if it's very close by the time of their convention it's anyone's game and I think Clinton would have the advantage in that case.
