SNES = some games are hit and miss as far as speed, but some games are definately playable.
TG16/PC Engine = full speed
GBx = full speed
NES = can't get it to work
PSX = can't get it to work
NeoGeo = can't get it to work
Genesis = mostly full speed

Honestly...that doesn't sound very good. Same systems on my DS:

  • SNES (via SNEmulDS): Many games play full speed, others play at a decent enough speed to be enjoyable, a few don't work at all. Just about everything suffers from tile priority issues though, so I hardly ever play anything on it.
  • GBC (via Goomba Color): Goomba Color is for the GBA but it definitely preforms better than Lameboy. Just about everything runs full speed, it has partial SGB support, and is being ported to the DS which will probably make everything run full speed.
  • GBC (via LameboyDS): Slower than Goomba Color, only listing it because it runs on the DS instead of the GBA. No SGB support, no color palettes for non-GBC games, it does have a mode where it stretches the image full screen but I find it more hideous than the GBA's built-in GBC stretch option.
  • NES (via PocketNES): If there's anything that doesn't run full speed on this I haven't played it. The only complaint one can make against it is that the scaling mode makes text hard to read but that can be easily remedied with font patches.
  • NES (via nesDS): Similar to Lameboy I'm only listing this because it's an emulator on the DS rather than the GBA. This is basically PocketNES ported to the DS, it doesn't have the benefit of recent PocketNES updates so it has lower compatibility. Has nicer, much easier to read screen scaling.
  • Genesis (via JenesisDS): I haven't played much but what I have runs pretty good. Lacks horizontal scaling which means some important information (health bars and such) gets cut off on some games.

Keep in mind that if I had written this even a few months ago I'd have had a lot more complaints than praise. They're all advancing pretty fast, I think it was less than a month ago that JenesisDS didn't even have sound.

Yea but the PSP can be so much better in so many ways if the codes advance the code quickly enough.  Plus, the widescreen LCD is quite good on the PSP and is definately sharper than the DS screen.

Which won't mean a whole hell of a lot until more things are playable on it. :tongue: But hey, there's always PSP games for now, right? :whoa:

Update:

SNES = 80-100%
TG16/PC Engine = perfect
GBx = perfect
NES = perfect
PSX = using custom eboot files full speed and sound
NeoGeo = can't get it to work--EMU loads but I'm missing some sort of cache files...
Genesis = 90-100%
CPS1 = 99-100%
CPS2 = 99-100%
Master System/Game Gear = 100%
MSX = 99-100% (can't get Final Fantasy to run)
NeoGeo Pocket = 40-60%

I just played a bit of Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) on my PSP and my god does it look stellar.  The audio is perfect as well.  I'm actually surprised the PSP behaves itself this well on PSX emulation.  Now I can finally go through FF9--and as a bonus with less load times.

Considering that sony themselves made the emulator that runs psx games, I'm not all that suprised. Download the metal gear games for it and lemme know when you do, I'll shoot you a few times :D

Oh, that'll only take you 90 game hours to do. :eek: Yes, the game is that long. Still a good game though. :happy:

90 hours?  I knew it was a lomg game but 90 is a really long game.  XT said he's on the first disc @ 60 hours or so and stuck on this one boss  I just can't believe I never played this game, its absolutely fantastic.

*edit*
I also wanted to check in and tell you that Final Fantasy VIII ran PERFECTLY.  It was quite awsome to see it on a handheld console.
