It's nice if there were a picture of the problem in detail to explain it... really, I'm not a visual genius, but the closest thing I could see is the upper right hand corner of the "4" looks like part of its shadow is missing, not that it matters to me.

Ah, I finally saw it, it was actually the four in the third font (I forgot that the second font is used for most of the numbers in the main menu). Fixed.

It's probably a good time to release it, in full glory.

Or... link to your new version.

Uh, I think there's another missing pixel somewhere, too. Lemme download the ROM, the patch, Lunar IPS (Sucks not having Internet in my own room... ) and possibly grab my own .SAV from my comp.

 :edit:
You should probably either take down the stripper restoration patch from wherever you have this located or remove that hack from the font patch when you officially release it.

 :edit:
I see you've fixed the dialogue's 'M' and 'g'. Good show.

 :edit:
The capital 'R' in the 8x8 font is missing a pixel. It's like this in FFVA and I think FFVIA too. From the bottom right, it's three pixels to the left horizontally and one pixel up vertically. That's where it's missing.

 :edit:
The capital 'S' in thr 16x16 font is missing a pixel as well, and it's also like this in the two FF Advance games that use this font in the official release. From the bottom left, it's right two pixels and up three pixels. That's where it isn't.

 :edit:
I think I have a solution to your accented vowels problem. You see how the É characters are?  Yeah, you should make them all like that. Granted, the other languages will have even more spillover issues, but at least they'll be semi-playable. I have screens and comparisons for you if you're interested.

On the left are my modifications. On the right is how it currently looks.

Nah, I think I'll just add a note that the stripper patch is included in this as well. It wouldn't be hard to pull it out but if you're going to use one enhancement you'll probably want to use the other anyway.

It's not like that in FF5a or FF6a, I'll fix it here. Do you care if I don't bother fixing the accented characters and release it tonight?

Hm? Oh, sure. I was just offering a suggestion as you said you were undecided on how to handle the accented vowels. I wouldn't care if you didn't fix them, to be honest.

 :edit:
Viciously mispelled "handle..."

 :edit:
Oh, it looks like you didn't see my other edits yet, possibly. That's what's implied, anyway...

No, I didn't see your other edit. If it was easy to expand them I would, as they are now I'd have to repoint them all to the end of the ROM, it's a pain for characters that should never be seen.

Then would it be possible to just cut them out or something? They're a bit of an eyesore...

Is that patch I already released enough to hold you over for a few days/weeks/months/years/decades/centuries/unspecified time period? I could probably take (most of) the pain out of editing this font but it'll take me a while (not because it's hard, but because I'd rather be working on something else and/or finishing my Mega Man game runs).

Well, possibly not centuries. And definitely not a millenia. But yeah, this is enough until you feel like working on it again. Thanks

 :edit:
Like I keep saying, as inexperienced as I am, I could probably fight with this enough to get it to work; just tell me what to do. Wait, is it a mind-raping grueling process and that's why you put it off in the first place?

Wait, is it a mind-raping grueling process and that's why you put it off in the first place?

Pretty much:

Characters can be 4x8, 8x8, or 12x8. The first row of "garbage" pixels actually determines the character width. 4x8 characters are stored like this:
11112222
33334444
55556666
77778888

8x8 like this:

11111111
22222222
33333333
44444444
55555555
66666666
77777777
88888888
99999999

And 12x8 like this:

11111111
11112222
22222222
33333333
33334444
44444444
55555555
55556666
66666666
77777777
77778888
88888888

Which is why a good deal of that looks like scrambled garbage; ideally editing would be done with something that could display them correctly but I've made do with YY-CHR.

Maybe I'm just a simple guy, but I'd simply be happy with a font that doesn't make me squint (like you would normally have to on the real thing anyways).

For a thought, it's not as if the you stare at Namingway's screen all day... or do you?

It must be a problem with GBAmdc, this happens even if just recompress the file without modifying it at all. Its maximum compression must not be as good as what the game uses in the first place, which might explain why none of the other programs I've used can decompress these graphics properly.
