Remember the program that Enemy Editor Gavin made back in the day? Well, I'm planning to make a challenge hack outta FF3J, you know makin stronger enemies and it'll gimme a chance to play through this game. I just wanna know before I get down with this project, if I were to work on the already english translation would I have any prollems with trying to hack the game? Did the program have any bugs if anyone can remember?

Thanks fellas for any advice given.

I think Gavin made it with the English translation in mind, so the data positions should be fine. As for bugs, I dunno.

It's doubtful they moved anything not related to text around when they were translating it, so you should be able to make a single patch work on the untranslated and translated ROMs if you don't touch the text.

Not a bug, but something that annoyed me about that game is the fact that everyone could dual-wield. It made shields useless and it was odd having wizards going around with two rods or two staffs all the time (since there's no reason not to). Also, characters that can equip shields could equip two shields (one in each hand) if you really wanted them to, which is also kinda silly if you ask me.

They "corrected" that one in the DS version by making the shields really useful for preventing status effects. The same problem still applies to mages and other non-shield wielders though, there's no reason not to give them two weapons.

Well in FF2 if you equip two shields, your attack goes to 0 but your defense is high. I think the same happens in FF3 as well.
