Zero day releases are evil.

Relax, I've got a copy preordered, ridiculous $30 markup and all. I'm just taking advantage of getting to play it a few weeks early, since I doubt my copy will get here before the New Year thanks to the holidays.

I hope the summons don't take 10 minutes each.

Chocobo's not too bad, the transition to the animation is a little jarring though, there's not much warning and it pulls you out of whatever you were doing. Personally I think the FF3 remake pulled off the summons flawlessly, everyone else complained about them not being flashy enough though.

The battles are only slow because the default speed is set to 4.

I still bet at the fastest speed, it's slower than FF4 for the Super Famicom on default speed.

No. The game actually seems faster on 1 in terms of enemy attacks, I had to lower the battle speed because I was getting myself killed. Scarmiglione isn't nearly the joke that movie makes him out to be.

Well that's some good news.  I'm still on the fence about whether or not to buy this game (already own the GBA and SNES versions).

It's a tough call, there have been a lot of changes but most of them don't really justify buying another copy of the game. The game is a lot harder now, the bosses especially. A lot of small balance changes have been made and I don't agree with some of them, others are good though. Overall I don't see it replacing the original for me, but I suspect I'll play it just as much.

The battles do seem to have gotten slower from the beginning, still tolerable but not as good as I thought they were originally.
The way arrows work has been totally overhauled, you now only need one arrow and it never runs out. Rosa (And Rydia? Forgot to check) seem to be the only characters that can use arrows. There are some non-metallic elemental daggers sold in Troia to make up for the lack of elemental arrows for Cecil.
Is there any evidence of these "new plot scenes" or "new scenarios" the developers keep mentioning but never giving any details about?
Let's dance!

Only one so far:
When you talk to Kain after the king throws you out of the throne room you get a little flashback of Cecil training with him.
A few scenes seem to have additional dialogue but not being able to read it I can't say for sure.

I REALLY hope that isn't what it boils down to being...
flashbacks...
Based on the trailer I saw,
I have a feeling they're going to develop the Kain/Rosa love interest/jealousy thing a bit more.  It looked like Kain was watching Cecil and Rosa in Baron at the beginning of the game.
A followup, you can skip the summon animations by pressing A anytime during them (Including Rydia's summoning animation).

Okay, I beat it about a week ago, now to wait for it to come out in English so I can really enjoy it.
Remember that "missing 75% of the story?" It must be hiding really good if it's here, there's all of one new thing added:

You get to play as Golbez in a flashback to when he was a little kid and Cecil had yet to be born. KluYa dies for some reason (Being able to read the text would really help) and their mother dies a few minutes later after giving birth to Cecil. This is apparently where Golbez's hatred towards Cecil came from...hooray clichés.

I really hope there's more than that and I missed it because of the language barrier...

I didn't use the new command system at all other than reordering the defaults to my liking. You get more than just playable character commands though, you get abilities from the four emperors and a few other people.

There's a new game+ type thing after beating it, you keep all your commands but everything else is back to default. As I didn't have any commands equipped I don't know if the characters you give them to retain them or not.

Namingway gave me the music player but it never showed up in the fat chocobo's menu, I don't know if it's a bug or there's something else you have to do to get it permanently. I should check my new game + file to see if it's there.
And there have been a ton of changes made to the enemies and bosses, most have been beefed up but a few have been nerfed (Blue Dragon is the most obvious one, it lost all its elemental resistances and absorption).

maybe a lot of the story stuff that is supposedly new is in the form of dialog? in other words you didn't notice it because you couldn't read it? I'm sure that's still an exaggerated percentage none the less though.

I would imagine it's in the form of dialog... Square-Enix is notoriously lazy in their FF ports/"remakes"/actual remakes.
