FF3/6 - Mirage Vest

Is this normally worth investing in?

I'm rethinking/investingating what the best armor would be for Gogo... as most know, the Tao Robe is the usually the recommended option because of the Magic Evade... and the Dark Gear is a close second if you want more Agility instead..

Has anyone bothered to do a mathematical analysis of the damage intake of equipping the Mirage Vest?

Here's my initial breakdown..

Mirage Vest:

Pros - Reduces Gogo's damage intake for quick and short battles, where Gogo is in a full party.

Cons - Overall Magic Defense and Defense suffers long term... not sure if it's that impactful...

Tao Robe:

Pros - The "best" you can buy..

Cons - Not the most exciting armor ever... since it's the best of the worst ultimate armors for each character...

Considering what you have to go through to get it (steal the Thornlet from Hidon, rare steal) I never find the vest worth getting. If the stats were better then I might make an effort for it. Otherwise, no.

119 bugs fixed and counting.

it's good for the Retainer and Outsider Colosseum battles, where you need to dodge physical Death attacks (which aren't preventable by Memento Ring / Safety Bit), and you don't have the ability or control to cast Vanish yourself or use Fenrir.

I have only ONCE ever used it, and it was to low-level-game have Setzer use it to fight a Brachosaur with Genji/Offering FixedDice/Dice.

What sucks about the vest (or perhaps that image status) is that it seems to have no specific quantity of evasion. If it were a mere boost in evasion, it would be godly (albeit less effective) assuming there was a spell (non-Fenrir or throw) that enabled it.

Overall, by the time you can have the Mirage Vest, there really aren't a lot of places you'd use it where the enemies don't have a much more powerful magic attack. In most cases, I keep my guys in the backrow and that's enough defense and I doubt there'd be a time I'd be using fight and would feel the need to use the Mirage Vest to keep him safely in the front row to avoid the extra damage.

I like assassin's post. I don't think I'd have thought of using it for that. (Especially since you can get naturally high evasion on most characters to avoid it naturally anyway.)
