Project64 and 1964 both run the game decently, you can play online using Mupen64k but the game doesn't run as good in it.

Download

 :edit:

I was going to upload this one to YouTube but Nestopia's avi converter only managed to capture the first 164 screens. :lame:

Mnrogar wrote a spell animation guide, it's on his site, I made good use of that back when I did the animations for a few new spells in Pandora's Box. Certain animations just don't play well with others, you'll just have to find the ones that work together.

Headers are $200 bytes that come before the ROM, they're used by SNES copiers but emulators don't need them.

your image at the top isn't showing and nice little blooper about the genji armor learning force filed ha ha!

That image was lost when my old host went down, I didn't keep a local copy of a lot of things back then like I do now. For reference, it was a pointer error that caused Tritoch in the Narshe mine to use one of the South Figaro soldiers' lines ("Oh, is my shift up already? Great! I'll go take a break.").

The one Leno posted was a barrel that used an innkeeper line ("Rooms are 80 gil per night. Will you be staying?") instead of the found item/gil message.

It must be a problem with GBAmdc, this happens even if just recompress the file without modifying it at all. Its maximum compression must not be as good as what the game uses in the first place, which might explain why none of the other programs I've used can decompress these graphics properly.

A while back I had decided I was only going to post new runs if they exceeded my past best...but since it doesn't look like that will be happening again anytime soon I decided I'll start posting my best for the current version:

081025 - 167 (Hard Mode)

081025 - Fail Run - This can be summed up in one screenshot:

After the...third death, I believe, I just stopped trying and started screwing around with Rush and my master weapons.

I was just thinking, it's been a long time since a hack has kept me this interested, a day hasn't gone by that I haven't attempted at least one run of this thing.

 :edit:

If anyone hasn't gotten Quick Man's stage yet (or doesn't know how to get past it without the Time Stopper), it's the second area I get in this movie:

Otherwise the movie is nothing special.

That logo is pretty cool, but I prefer the one I made.

Wait, is it a mind-raping grueling process and that's why you put it off in the first place?

Pretty much:

Characters can be 4x8, 8x8, or 12x8. The first row of "garbage" pixels actually determines the character width. 4x8 characters are stored like this:
11112222
33334444
55556666
77778888

8x8 like this:

11111111
22222222
33333333
44444444
55555555
66666666
77777777
88888888
99999999

And 12x8 like this:

11111111
11112222
22222222
33333333
33334444
44444444
55555555
55556666
66666666
77777777
77778888
88888888

Which is why a good deal of that looks like scrambled garbage; ideally editing would be done with something that could display them correctly but I've made do with YY-CHR.

Is that patch I already released enough to hold you over for a few days/weeks/months/years/decades/centuries/unspecified time period? I could probably take (most of) the pain out of editing this font but it'll take me a while (not because it's hard, but because I'd rather be working on something else and/or finishing my Mega Man game runs).

Hmm, the logo doesn't seem to be showing for me. Anyone else seeing it?

 :edit:

Probably just on my end, seems like half the internet is currently down for me.

Is that Quick Man's stage I see...? :omg:

(RHDN will be updated once I can access the site, timing out right now)

 :edit:

RHDN has been updated.

 :edit:

Oh yeah, it's Quick Man's stage all right, an infinitely looping version of Quick Man's stage.
