Title: Killer Bow -- does it work?
Post by: 8-bit Warrior on August 18, 2011, 06:27:25 PM
Does the Killer Bow, described in FF4A as increasing the wielder's critical hit rate, actually do anything? Deathlike2's algorithms FAQ doesn't mention anything about it. FFRev2(2).xls doesn't list any unusual bits, either...
Also known as the Archer Bow in FF2us, but you probably knew that already.

I'm pretty sure it's just a description and not a reality.
If you don't believe it, test it for yourself.

It seems to be the case. But then why would they bother making a description that is, you know, sort of a lie? Thought they could make it work, then gave up, and didn't change the description?
On a second note, the conclusion is that Aim does allow for critical hits, just doesn't give any visual indication, correct? Other characters sure as heck get criticals with bows and the screen also flashes...

I'm pretty sure Aim does allow for critical hits, like Yang's Power/Deadly command. Jump is the only exception where it doesn't.

In light of the new information found in this thread :omg:http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/522596-final-fantasy-ii/59917210 (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/522596-final-fantasy-ii/59917210) here at GameFAQs, it seems possible that the Killer Bow does not appear to increase critical rate because we no longer have any characters capable of getting criticals. Rosa certainly wasn't getting any criticals by the time I tested her.
It seems like the best way to test this would be on a fresh FuSoYa.
