Arcade Stick for 360
« on: July 03, 2009, 08:38:46 PM »
So I'm looking into getting an arcade stick for my 360 since I play a lot of ssf2thdr and sf4 and mvc2 when that comes out at the end of the month. Trying find a decently priced worthwhile stick.

I'm looking at the Hori Fighting Stick EX2 right now, but it only has 6 face buttons with two buttons on the top where they couldn't conceivably be usable in real play. Plus the stick itself uses a square gate since it's a japanese stick. I don't have much experience with square gate stick, but I hear they are difficult to do half circles and qtr circles. Though I hear they aren't TOO bad to get used to.

I also have an xbox controller that I think some of the wire is dying on (attributed to the left bumper being unresponsive sometimes). Thinking of maybe buying http://www.happcontrols.com/joysticks/ultimate_joy.htm Not sure if I should go with a 4 or 8 way stick tho. I'm a thinking the 8 way might be best, but I'm disappointed the 8way doesn't come in black. I also kind of wish it came with a ball top as I prefer those to a bat. The problem with ball tops is I can only find them with a square gate.
and then http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/5891xxl.htm x 10 or so (for 8 buttons, start and back)

Curious if anyone knew about arcade sticks and if making my own is a better idea than trying to buy one premade.

found some better parts. Thinking about getting the Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable from  http://www.lizardlick.com/pages/joysticks.shtml

And the Yenox pushbuttons http://www.lizardlick.com/pages/pushbuttons.shtml.  I hear they are tighter and I like a little resistance on my arcade buttons.

I just hope I can order the sanwa stick with a circular gate instead of the square one it comes with

Well, I decided to go with the Hori Fighting Stick ex2 for the time being. I was doing the math and after buying parts and building a box, this 50 dollar stick would come out cheaper in the long run even when I end up having to replace the parts down the road.

Arcade came in. some bubbles under the protective film, but I was planning on replacing the art anyway. Works great :D
