I only mentioned it in my further appeal, which was denied again.  I then decided to just leave that site.  I have posted there a few times in the years since, but I used to be really active on the FF boards.

I go there for their cheats/tips/guides, but their forums are littered with morons who ask questions contained within those cheats, tip and guide menus. Alternatively, they ask questions that haven't been released like "Is such-and-such in the game?"

specifically, "Is it legal to make a copy of a game I own?"

their answer is "Yes", with the caveat that the DMCA can make breaking "copyright protection" (sic, they must mean "copy protection": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_protection) on a game illegal.  that caveat doesn't apply to FF6/3, because:

1) it precedes the DMCA by 4 years.
2) it doesn't have copy protection.

since it's legal to have a copy of your game, then any linkage to sites that discuss hacking said copy (but not how to obtain a copy) can't be illegal either.

now, this FAQ is part of the general "GameFAQs Help" rather than the messageboard specific rules.  however, one would think that something qualified as "legal" on one part of the site couldn't be an "illegal activity" on another part.  prohibited, maybe, but deemed "illegal" by the same admin who just said otherwise?  hah.

Well, when I mean filtering, you should be able to login and /ignore total dumbasses at the very least. When you're not logged in, anything goes.

how does one copy and paste a URL to start a GameFAQs topic about said URL not working, while somehow managing to avoid actually *visiting* the URL to see that it does work?  seriously, that's a tall order.  we're literally talking about someone who lacks the wrist strength to push the mouse cursor into their address bar before hitting Ctrl+V.
