Game Modification Station / Genesis hacking
« on: January 25, 2013, 01:49:14 PM »
I do not care for RHDN so I must start here. Anybody know anything about Genesis ROMs?  I want to get started hacking Sword of Vermilion and Shining in the Darkness. That's it. Those are my favorites so I'd like to figure out some data but I've run in to road blocks--the worst being fonts. Are they compressed?  The data is stored differently vs SNES (duh) so I'm not sure about pointers...

Ideas?

17
Does anyone know what compression format Seiken Densetsu 3 uses for its graphics?

18
I'm trying to use lunar compress to uncompress star fox's title screen but I'm having a HELL of a time getting this F'ing program to do it.

I ran a sniff and located the compressed data but I cannot get the program to dump the graphics -- at least not in a format I can open with TLP or whatnot.

Here's a video of an incomplete assembly mod of FF2us with the 9999 damage limit cap removed.  I'm still working on getting the full 5 digits to display...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBeBNUt6coc

Note: This video was taken with SNES9x.

The odd thing about this is there are two sets of damage limits, one is the global limit and the other is a specific skill/spell limit from such things as Throw/Dart and Meteo.

*edit*
Found both Meteo and Throw's limit.  Also, found the 999 MP max limit.  So now when you gain a level you can go beyond 999 MP--and the game makes it stick.

*edit 2*
I could use some help here getting the game to display more than 5 digits damage in battle--that's beyond my capabilities it seems.  :(

Game Modification Station / JCE3000GT.com now has an archive
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:21:39 PM »
I'm starting to put up some old emulation/romhacking type stuff for archival reasons.

LINK: http://www.jce3000gt.com/archive/

If anyone wants me to archive something (which will also get burned to DVD AND stored on a USB Flash drive in a fire/water proof box) please email it to me with the following subject line: "File(s) for JCE3000GT.com archive".  I will email you with confirmation when this is completed.

Email addy with anti-spam!

*see thread title

I'd like to take some of carts and put my rom mods on them.  Example, put say Secret of Mana EasyType on an existing Secret of Mana cart.  Or Mystic Quest HardType on an MQ cart.

I have no experience with one if these and zero experience using a soldering gun...am I screwed?  I'd almost rather pay someone to do it for me.

Game Modification Station / FF3us battle backgrounds are corrupted
« on: February 04, 2012, 01:34:06 AM »
I have no idea how or why but most of my battle background graphics are glitched.  I wasn't editing any graphics except for using a patch that restored the Japanese monster sprites censored by Nintendo.  Those came out perfect...

Where are the offsets so I can copy/paste restore these from a clean unedited ROM in to mine?

Game Modification Station / FF3us: Item type sort issue
« on: February 02, 2012, 10:22:33 PM »
About 6-7 or more years ago someone (Master ZED?) created a patch that makes it so when you change an item's icon to something else not on the predetermined list the sort command won't remove that item.

I cannot find this patch on my old archives.  Anyone know where this data list is stored?

Gaming Discussion / Need a huge favor, scanning carts
« on: January 18, 2012, 05:40:46 PM »
I need a huge favor.  I'm working on creating a template label for SNES and SFC cartridges for me to print.  Trouble is no one on the internet has a high resolution clean scan of a Super Nintendo cart (front or back) or a Super Famicom cart (front or back).

I'm working on creating new labels for my SNES/SFC carts and thus I need a good quality source scan into a file that isn't compressed.

Anyone?

*edit*
Here's a hugely scaled down version of what I've recreated from scratch.  I shrunk it by 85% to be better visually on a forum.

Gaming Discussion / Making new labels for SNES/SFC cartridges.
« on: January 09, 2012, 08:33:12 PM »
Does anybody know how people are making labels (and boxes) for the Secret of Mana 2 and Star Fox 2 carts I've seen being sold?  Here are some examples:

I would love to refurbish my carts and replace the labels with shiny new ones. This also could mean I could get some carts in bad shape off ebay and flea markets and restore them.

I'd also love to know how to make SNES/SFC boxes and manuals.

Gaming Discussion / Gaming stuff I'd be interested in buying
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:04:04 PM »
I just received some xmas money via PayPal and need to spend it.  Its not much but should be able to pay for anything listed below.  I will pay a little extra to cover the Paypal fees and for slightly overkill packing material for shipping to preserve the items.  I'd prefer not to buy onesies and twosies of the game carts that aren't ones specifically listed, I'm more interested in wholesale lots.  I'm trying to re-amass my game collection that I sold off in 2009 to buy a car.

So if anyone (long term active members) have anything like the following for sale in very good to excellent working and cosmetic condition let me know.  Feel free to post other things I might be interested in as well as price offers for what you got.  Just don't get your feelings hurt if I counter offer with something that is lower than what you'll take.  I only have this PayPal money--I'm currently working part-time so extra funds are not available.

Game systems (would like original boxes and such but not that important for now):
Sega Genesis/Sega CD console combo (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Sega CDX (with or without games it doesn't matter)
JVC X'Eye (should of never sold mine!)
Sega Wondermega (wishful thinking...)
Lunar the Silver Star US Sega CD
Turbo Duo system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Turbo Grafix 16 with CD system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Neogeo CD system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Jaguar CD system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Panasonic 3DO FZ-10 system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Goldstar 3DO system (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Japanese Super Famicom system that isn't yellowing (with or without games it doesn't matter)
European Super Nintendo system that isn't yellowing (with or without games it doesn't matter)
A package deal with all three Japanese, North American and European SFC/SNES consoles (with or without games it doesn't matter)
An original ORIGINAL GameBoy with no dead pixels or scratches (with or without games it doesn't matter)
GameCube platinum system + matching platinum controller with GameBoy player (with or without games it doesn't matter)
Pioneer Laser Active (wishful thinking)

Game Modification Station / Temporal Flux
« on: November 23, 2011, 11:53:19 PM »
Anyone here an expert at using this thing?

I've got the basics down and even have created my own save points and some of those little blue star NPCs that give items/money/etc.  BUT, my MAIN issue is when I create an NPC that uses any of the person graphics the game screen blanks out all red when you enter the area with the NPC.

I was going to email EvilPeer but I lost his email address and he no longer visits the Chrono Compendium since they went all anti-emulation.

Anyone help me out?  I'll give more specific information if there's someone here who can help.
