That hack needs a header...

When seeing if patches work.. you know something goes horribly wrong in battle more often than not.

and, you know, that was the weird part. i fought the marshal, etc., the narshe guards, etc. and all of the battles went fine, but as soon as i walked out of narshe, everything went straight to hell.

anyway, thanks for the header info.

Generally most FF3 hacks assume the header's included... usually that's due to distribution..

In the worst case for an FF3  hack, you won't see the FF3 logo appear at all.

I'll probably end up posting a link when the RDHN hack list is posted up (weekly right?) referring to the issues I have here... it would only be fair.

It doesn't look like the evade patch was used at all either...

I believe it happens when a certain number of hacks/utilities/translations have been posted.

What that number is, I have no idea. >.<

Looks like someone didn't realize there's a specific space character ($FE) you're supposed to use in those names. Also, is that Broadsword (I'm guessing that's what it is) cut off in the menu or just dialogue? If it's the latter that's the same issue, using the wrong space character, if it's the former I can't stand when people do that. If you're going to cut the item type out of the name at least have the decency to do a quick hack so the full name is still displayed when getting treasure...yes I know FF3usHT does this as well, it annoys me there too.

Dragonsbreathren, you and your damned rigged 777!

It's an extra space, which you'll see in both the menus as well. The weapon name is simply "Broad ".

I was actually going to request you fix that in FF3USHT - the wrong space character issue (the FF3 Editor monster list looks awful that way).

In the item pickup of "Steel  Sword", there is actually two spaces in the message, one of them don't appear in the menus (it appears normal)... so it's a one-way issue, but a stupid issue nonetheless.

just about to start climbing mt. koltz in this ff3 hack.  deathlike, if you get the chance, you should start to check it out in ff3me.  i wanted to see if the asps drop bandanas(they do), so i looked it up, and they're still marked as humanoid. little things like that are kind of annoying.  this was not thoroughly worked through before release.

Been past that point, and didn't notice about the humanoid status, but it's really the "Brawler" replacement.

These are the small issues that are pulling my interest down...

oh, i know that it's the brawler replacement, which is why i was checking for bandanas, also that you've been past it, etc. i was suggesting that you check the rest of the way.  he forgot to change the status, which i find kinda annoying.

at this point, i have 2 ff3me windows open, 1 with the hack, and 1 with the original, just for the sake of making comparisons as i go.

Bah.. the status bonuses on Espers are kept... which means those with Magic commands only benefit.

Well, they put some thought into the changes... but it almost looks like noone tested it.

For instance, the Dragonsoul Relic for Edgar has the Randomly Cast Wind Slash property.. however that's useless since the checks are weapon based.

It also has the Palidor spell, but that's not cast at all since it's not enabled...

The Thief's Spirit has the Steal bonus property, but you're enabling Capture so that's not beneficial at all (both commands are not considered the same in terms of the Steal algo).

Personally, I'd keep playing the hack until I get bored. I'm not yet bored, but considering that Leno's really really old FF3 hack made me stop because of HP growth (and I don't feel like grinding, though now I think I have a better way of working around that issue and I have to actually "try" playing it at some point..).. there are limits to my interest.

yeah, should've been clearer. not enough was changed to keep me interested. i got bored with it. :)  some of the changes are interesting, but they seem kinda poorly planned at times.

I'm usually disappointed early game, since more often than not, the good stuff is done for late game.. usually via equipment and/or monsters. The equipment tends to be generic in the WOB in most FF3 hacks.

Two properties of the Dark Sigil won't be used... Drain and randomly casting Meteor...

I love this quote:
