General Discussion / Re: Why no NCAA football love?
« on: September 11, 2014, 08:33:32 PM »
What state do you reside in?  All football here in Texas is obviously big and there are so many people who are strong supporters of either their local schools or former alma maters.  I would almost say college football is bigger than the NFL around here locally primarily because the NFL teams we have aren't and haven't been good for a while.

How come there isn't a college football thread?  I enjoy college more than the NFL.  :)

That is all.

My prediction on my teams...

Cowboys 4-12 and sucking horribly.  Romo will last 4 games and there will NO focus on the running game.  Penalty prone and Jerry being f'ing Jerry and signing/trading for problems and or thugs.  <-- just happened with that stupid player who committed a DWI homicide.  Brown will be reinstated in 10 games...

Houston 6-10 and being mediocre needlessly and unfortunately.  Injuries will plague them again.  :(

I am very bummed, but also very happy at the same time. Here's to you: :picsorstfu:

Ok, that joke would probably be lost on everyone else. In all seriousness, I wish you the best. Don't be a stranger.

Haha!  I love it.  That is such a perfect inside joke for this situation.  I do appreciate the sentiment as well.  You have been awesome to work with all these years and were very helpful when I needed it.  I won't stop visiting or even posting here or on the other few gaming forums so don't worry.  :)

^Love that!

Thanks guys.  :)  I hope the Final Fantasy 4 hacking scene surpasses Final Fantasy 6 at some point, but I am biased.  Haha!

I will still poke around here and other hacking forums so don't be surprised if I post something every now and again.  :D

I figured this forum gets more traffic vs the general one.  I thought this day would never come. I have been thinking about this for about a year... I think it is time I retire from game hacking and utility programming. It is a hard decision to come to but it is one that I have to make. I have various reasons for this decision but the primary ones tip the scales in that direction. Mostly I've lost the desire to do these things and with where my life is now I just don't have all of the time I feel is needed to dedicate to this. Whether it be working too much, doing the upkeep on our house, and with my wife and I talking about kids I just don't have the time any longer.

I feel very proud of what I have accomplished and contributed to the community so I will retire with a sense of pride. I helped pioneer Final Fantasy 4 and 6 game modification starting in 2000. I also helped make SPC modification for the Square games more mainstream with the launch of my SPC Editor and individual game documents starting in 2006/2007. But honestly the thing that makes me the most proud is the countless people that I have both introduced and mentored in this field. And some of those guys have paid it forward and mentored newcomers and even those have now started being mentors. My only regret is not finishing about a half dozen projects that I spent so much time on. But, they are being archived so if I ever feel peckish I can still come back to them.

I will check in from time to time on where the game/ROM "hacking" community is at and what sorts of things are going on but my active and contribution days are over. I still will attempt to fix any bugs if I can on any project already publicly released but it may take longer than usual. My forum on jce3000gt.com will remain open and I will be active on it everyday so please feel free to still post anything you like on this or other subjects. I will also periodically check my private messages and emails if anyone needs to get a hold of me for whatever reason. Thank you to everybody that has helped, contributed, and assisted with any of my projects. I also loved working on others' projects too!  It has been a great ride!

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: 4bpp Graphics Backport
« on: July 27, 2014, 11:09:27 PM »
Wow this is very nice work I'm very impressed.  I always knew the SNES version of Final Fantasy IV/IIus could be graphically improved.  Do you think the map and overworld tiles could be done/enhanced too at some point?

One last question, how much room does the increased graphics take up?

I believe he is asking about Final Fantasy III US / Final Fantasy VI?

I'm loving all this data mining and documenting.  My dream is to have Final Fantasy 4 have as much or more to edit than Final Fantasy 6.  :)

General Discussion / Re: 4/3/14 Hailstorm ... my poor new car

How you prevented yourself from screaming during that entire 51 seconds of seeing your brand new car be pelted mercilessly by nature, I have no idea. But, ouch! That looked dangerous! Is that going to be moving to New England soon?

LOL, no, no screaming.  :D  I don't think that storm that hit on the 3rd is still formed now.

You and me both!  Well, summer that is.  Spring around here means more hail and tornadoes...

Had a large hailstorm (and tornado) in our neighborhood yesterday evening.  You can see the front nose of my car in the video...needless to say I have hail damage.  Hail measured nickel to half-dollar sized.  I can post more pics if anyone is interested.

Best if the video is zoomed in full screen.

No worries Pink Puff.  You don't have to focus on the low priority stuff.  I already had a bunch of this coded and ready for a while.  :)
