Not that I can remember.

I poked around with it a little bit, nothing serious yet, though. What I'm working on at the moment is kind of low key compared to what I was doing in the past (but, on the upside, has a much greater chance of being completed).

Grab FCEUXD (or whatever the latest and greatest version is). I don't have the emulator in front of me at the moment, but what you want to do is either search for a monster with known stats' HP value in memory (remember, convert to hex, flip the bytes) or do it like a cheat search, where you start a search, do a bit of damage to the monster, search for a value < previous, and repeat until you find the address. Once you find it, check out nearby bytes in memory and see if those correspond to the other stats. If they do, that's great. Search that same info in the ROM and you'll probably find it that way. You probably won't even need to worry about breakpoints or anything if that's the case.

Nice little program you have here, finally got around to using it the past few days now that I have some of my emulation stuff reinstalled. I'm not exactly thrilled with the keyboard driven interface, but its capabilities make up for that. Monster and action sequence editing are on my wishlist for this.

I don't think anyone here has actually looked into FF3 (which is a bit strange, because it's easily the best of the three on the NES). I'd probably try to find a known monster stat (like HP) in memory, set a breakpoint on its address, and see if I could find where it was being loaded from the ROM in the next battle. Doing this for a monster you know all of the stats of would be best, because you'll be able to tell if you've got the right data or not.

Back in the day we would've just gone nuts corrupting random bits of "suspicious" data in the ROM until we found something interesting. I think that's how most of the FF1 and FF2 stuff was found.

Kaipo and the Watery Pass are up, along with this amazing use of the 64 doors bug:

Mine works fine on Win7. No special drivers needed or anything.

Somehow I missed this when you posted it. I actually knew about this with Arachne at one point, but had completely forgotten about the behavior until I read this post.

Just wanted to point out this awesome article Tomato is currently writing:

http://matotree.com/localization/final-fantasy-iv/

A lot of it is probably common knowledge for us FF4 fans, but it's the most comprehensive English write up I've seen about the changes between FF4 and Easy Type (and FF2us of course), and it's only at the second town so far. I've never even heard of that sliding glitch mentioned in the Mist section before.

It's not a hack, but pick up the port of Sonic CD off Steam/XBLA/whatever. $5 for an exceptionally good reversed-engineered fan remake, rather than emulation, which (optionally) imports Sonic 2 spindash mechanics and Tails, plus plays in widescreen by expanding the field of view. Tails kind of breaks some of the level design, but who cares? He's a bonus character. Has both the Japanese and US soundtracks (unfortunately you can't mix and match individual tracks, only chose one or the other).

Wish Sega would let him do the rest of the games this way, but they already have emulated versions on the same platforms, so that's really doubtful.

 :edit:

Steam summer sale is going on right now actually, so it's only $3. I might just pick it up; already have it on XBLA, but I know I'd play it more if it was on my Steam account.

:stfu: I don't post here very often anymore.

Played the fully playable Zero MMX3 hack a few months ago and it's great. One of those hacks where you can basically toss the original cartridge, because you won't be touching it ever again. It won't run in bsnes, though, which is a huge disappointment.

I finished Deus Ex Human Revolution recently, and it's probably the best single player game I've played in years. In spite of all its flaws, I'm having a hard time thinking of anything that came anywhere near it.

 :edit:

Forgot to mention, I started playing Mega Man X8 again recently. Hard to believe it's been eight years since this game out. I see now that this game was only good in comparison to X6 and X7; play control is horrible and the characters take up way too much screen space. I love that a non-Legends Mega Man game got a decent translation and voice acting, though, even if the dialogue is still pretty cheesy.
