General Discussion / Re: Any progress?

Sorry for just putting this here, but I still haven't seen any proof that the C & D is fake.

That Dark Fact guy apparently registered as another member and had it out with some of the leaders there and it basically came out as he faked the letter.  If memory serves...read the entire topic and you'll see what I mean.

Hopefully it will bring me out of my boredom of the game at the moment, but here's an interesting thought.

I was reading about a Gamefaqs post about how Rydia dies so easily vs Zeromus... and I didn't believe that was entirely true or fair. The prime reason for this is that many people make the mistake of equipping Rydia with the Heroine Robe/Minvera Bustier. This piece of equipment boosts pretty much the essential physical attributes (+15 STR, +15 AGI, +15 VIT/STA) but also cripples the others (-15 WIS/INT, -15 WILL/SPR). In essence, you are trading one issue for another. This armor is actually awesome for Rosa (even better than FF4A's misguided attempt to add the White Dress as her ultimate armor).

So, it got me thinking... with all the unfinished stuff about this game... was it possible that Rydia was supposed to become young again?

As we know, Rydia discusses about how time ages differently in the Land of Summoned Monsters (or Phantom Beasts or whatever you prefer to call them). This is obviously is compounded with the fact that she "never" learns Cure2/Cura when she comes back.

The two ultimate armors (in FF4, not the Advance port)  that are provided for Rydia and Rosa in the Lunar Subterrane are the Heroine/Minerva Robe and White Robe. Given what we know about how things work, I would actually believe that the White Robe was intended for young Rydia and not so much Rosa. Rosa's stat progression will give her enough natural healing power (Cure4/Curaja isn't tremendously powerful IMO) that would totally favor the Heroine Robe. Rydia with her increased magic power with the White Robe would be much better at fighting Zeromus... even though the Sorceror/Light Robe provides greater benefits to her magic defense (+5 WIS/INT, +5 WILL/SPR vs the White Robe's +15 WILL/SPR).

Is it possible that the armors were tweaked poorly or was there some legitimate chance that Young Rydia was meant for Zeromus? Remember that there are very few equipment differences between Young and Older Rydia. Remember, Older Rydia gets to have a number of strength boosting equipment, but Younger Rydia has greater access to White Wizard equipment (Staffs and the White Robe).

I NEVER equipped Rosa or Ryida with the "Heroine" Robe.  It lacks magic defense, lowers magic power and is just rather useless in general.  Equip those and watch as enemies with magic (Red Dragon, King Ryu etc) chew through them like butter.  The best robe(s) for Rydia are the Sorcerer's and Black depending on your preferrence.  For symmetry I equip the Black on Rydia and White on Rosa.

General Discussion / Went to the gun range on Saturday.

I shot a 1920's .45 and a glock with a 9mm barrel and with a .357 barrel in it as well.  It was some great fun.  I did ok, the .45 was from ~15ft and the 9mm was from ~18ft.  The .357 we all used the same target and I didn't grab it.  My girlfriend did good as well, don't have a clear enough picture of the targets but I will try and get some.  :D  Oddly I did much better with the .45, which I attribute to me loving that gun and the sight on it better than the glock.  The .45 just felt perfectly comfortable in my hands, the glock felt "small".  My pinky almost hung off the end of the handle.  LOL  I'm not a "gun guy" or whatnot but I can appreciate and respect these.  And I just flatout love old school .45's and Lugers.

The left is the 9mm and the right is the .45.

Fixed the link.

That C&D for Crimson Echos was a fake--and proven in a topic about it.  Don't let that stop you from doing your project.  Just keep it private.

I'd love to buy one of those AND one that is an original Nintendo sealed unopened copy.  I bet a few still exsist.

Final Fantasy IV Research & Development / Re: FF4 SNES play time

I don't know about you, but I find games that force you to grind to just be irritating. The original game never required you to grind at all, you could if you wanted to make a few areas a bit easier, but the game was completely beatable if you just fully explored each area and fought all of the random encounters.

Well maybe it just leeches time doing that way.  Maybe if you make the treasure worthwhile enough in each area it gives the user a legitimate reason to explore everything.  Maybe minibosses like what I did on my hack?

A small suggestion is to lower the EXP/GP amount recieved by monsters by 25% for the first 75% of the game--that should force players to spend more time fighting for items.  And while not disturbing the story and or character levels.

I don't know about either of those. I don't remember there being any bugs in the US FF6a release.
Other than a lot that still remained, one big new one was Doom Gaze really screwing you out of Bahamut. If you killed Doom Gaze in the Soul Shrine before killing him on the world map, you'll never see Bahamut.

There's another one that's a big exploit in your favor. You can quicksave your stats to crazy levels, effectively making it a New Game+ scenario. I forget the steps involved, but if lucky the topic still exists at Gamefaqs.

I own IV, V and VI Advance but the US release.  Are the Euro versions actually better to PLAY as in the bugs fixed?  I need someone to breakdown (DKK) what is changed/fixed on the Euro releases.
Thanks a lot. :shadow:

I meant he was online at the time  I posted this topic is all Leno.  Didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

And I'd love to hear about this exploit on FF6A.  :D  Might make me play it again.

Awsome.  What are the bugs in FF6A?

What about Tactics Advance?  The UK release seems to be cheaper than the US release on ebay.

Thanks.
