I had forgotten this bug for a while, but it's worth noting.

If you've  selected a game, then proceed to reset the game, and then start a new game, not all of the data in reset/cleared out for the new game.

I'm not sure if this is entirely connected to Gamefaqs users having trouble in the failure to execute the Golbez event where he burns the bridge at the Tower of Babil.

It is most notable if your loaded save file has a person with the Adamant Armor equipped... it will become visibly obvious with Kain and/or Cecil.
When you play a new game, fight the Mist Dragon and make it use its ColdMist (ice elemental) counter when it is in Mist form.
You will see that the person that had equipped the Adamant Armor in the save file would take a lot more damage than normal.

It would be worth checking out how a game that has gotten though the Lunar Subterrane would be different than a normal game (seeing if any event bits have not be reset).

I assume that this bug would also occur when the whole group dies instead of resetting the game. I don't think the New Game function makes sure all the proper bits are reset.

As bug filled this game already is, I'd rather not find out.

Twins won their game in extra innings, but will proceed tomorrow to get murdered by the Yankees.

I'm sure the real final game of the Twins season (game 163) will be awesome, but that and the Vikings win (ugh) has been pretty exciting stuff in Minnesota.

However, where art thou Leno?

Lions @ Bears (division)

Bears - Lions winning streak? Simply hilarious.

Quote
Bengals @ Browns (division)

Bengals - Seriously, let me know when the Browns wake up.

Quote
Seahawks @ Colts

Colts - Does it even matter if Hasslebeck is there?

Quote
Giants @ Chiefs

Giants - It was a mismatch on paper even before this week.

Quote
Ravens @ Patriots

Pats - The Ravens defense is a tad overrated because of the opponents... but it's also different because the Jets have Rex Ryan. It should be a close game nonetheless.

Quote
Buccaneers @ Redskins

Redskins - I guess it could go either way, but the Bucs suck and the Redskins ended the Lions losing streak. I'm not sure how great this matchup is.

Quote
Titans @ Jaguars (division)

Titans - Despite the Titans 0-3 record, they are not as bad as their record.

Quote
Raiders @ Texans

Texans - Which team do you think sucks more?

Quote
Jets @ Saints

Saints - I believe that the Saints can put up more points than a rookie QB vs the below average Saints defense....

Quote
Bills @ Dolphins (division)

Bills - A tough pick, but the Dolphins have lost Pennington for the season.

Quote
Rams @ 49'ers (division)

49ers - Let me know when the Rams do something good.

Quote
Cowboys @ Broncos

Broncos - I don't think the Broncos are that good (especially defensively), but I also don't think the Cowboys are that good either (as a team) and they are coming off MNF.

Quote
Chargers @ Steelers

Steelers - I don't think the Steelers as as bad as they look.

Quote
Packers @ Vikings (division)

Packers - There's no mystery to this pick. I can only say that Favre will attempt to prove Packer fans "wrong".. and hopefully in the form of INTs.

This isn't FF5 where elemental absorption is available for physical attacks.

A way of working around this is setting the immune bit so that damage is limited to 1 (unless there's a critical hit). This is most notable for Zombies and DK's Cecil weaponry.

I don't think you've ever used the Fire Sword or Flame Spear against a FlameDog eh?

So, the only way to stop charcters from gaining experience while not in the party would be to kill them before they leave?

Obviously, I don't mean it for Kain, Rydia, or Rosa, but for the schmucks who leave permanently.

...This wouldn't pertain to the GBA version, of course.

No, I believe the system ignores the fact that they are dead when they leave. They keep getting EXP. All characters that come back have full HP/MP, but I dunno if they are stored away as dead though (not that it mattered).

Notable characters that aren't permanent but do come back for a time would include Yang and Tellah.

This was never new news though.

The way FF4 works was always that once the game "created" the character (that means, they join your party), they would continue to gain EXP even after leaving your party. All (at time, I believed it was 100%) the EXP you would get while they were away would allow them to keep pace with the others. However, it didn't really resolve it well (if you overlevel the twins like I do, I get a better Kain, Rosa, and Rydia).

IIRC, this always explained how FuSoYa's HP would scale for the final battle.

For FF4A, all the character's data are stored (instead of the 5 character limit)... including those that never come back. This specifically affects Tellah (despite him going away forever) and DK Cecil... not that it ultimately mattered.

The 49'er/Vikings game was one of the better played games I had seen since the Titans/Steelers opener. It did not disappoint.

My day would've been better if Favrerere didn't screw things up.
Ahhh, but he didn't.

Just wait that kind of play will be like the NFC Championship when Favre was still with the Packers. Then, you'll cry.

The trap games played out exactly as I thought they would, they trapped me and I only get 8 wins (MNF still needs to be played).

There weren't that many trap games.

Most important injury is the one to Pennington, as that team has gone 0-3 and w/o a QB now. Additionally, the Titans are 0-3 and have dug a hole for themselves.

My day would've been better if Favrerere didn't screw things up.

I started the early games with 1-3, but went 2-0 for all the late games.

Deciding game is SNF, and the real shocker is the Steelers losing to the Bengals, of all teams.

Redskins @ Lions

Lions - Ya, they'll get their first win this time... or I guess they will fail some more.

Quote
Packers @ Rams

Packers - Will the Rams be this year's Lions? We'll see.

Quote
49'ers @ Vikings

49ers - Ya, they'll pull the upset Leno. I see Favre will pull crap on the home opener to disappoint you.

Quote
Falcons @ Patriots

Falcons - I hope I'm wrong, but this is the Falcons road opener and Brady is still rusty.. with injuries in doubt (or just BS, which is what the whole injury report can be.

Quote
Titans @ Jets

Titans - That embrassing loss to the Texans is motivation enough.. plus the Jets may be on some high after beating the Pats.

Quote
Chiefs @ Eagles

Chiefs - Matt Cassel will have his first win as a Chief on the road... it won't be that easy though.

Quote
Giants @ Buccaneers

Giants - Bucs are still in a disarray because of their QB.

Quote
Browns @ Ravens (division)

Ravens - The Browns seriously have problems.

Quote
Jaguars @ Texans (division)

Jags - It will be the first win for the Jags.

Quote
Saints @ Bills

Saints - I see a shootout, but the Saints inevitably will beat the Bills.

Quote
Bears @ Seahawks

Bears - Hasslebeck is not starting, and the Bears are on the West Coast... but that means the Bears have only a slight edge here.

Quote
Dolphins @ Chargers

Chargers - After that embarrassing loss to the Ravens, the Chargers will squish the fish!

Quote
Steelers @ Bengals (division)

Steelers - Steelers will bounce back from that loss to beat the Bengals.

Quote
Broncos @ Raiders (division)

Broncos - I think that the Broncos will upset the Raiders... because the Raiders simply aren't that good.

Quote
Colts @ Cardinals

Colts - I simply like the Colts better than the Cards in this matchup.

Quote
Panthers @ Cowboys

Cowboys - After the Cowboys embarrassing loss in primetime, they get another chance to redeem themselves...

I'm hopeful I'd be done by the end of the year, but that might be too much pressure.

I was burnt out with ideas before, but I have a semi-fresh look now, so we'll see.
