    Played Another Site’s Version Without Heeding Its Instructions

    This post is made becauase Romhacking.net (RHDN) doesn’t have a way for a modder to reply to a player review, unlike other sites such as Romhack Plaza (RHP).

    The player review specifies version 1 of Re:Jobbed, which is not the version (0.8) hosted on RHDN here.

    So what’s this version 1, and where can it be found? Version 1 (beta) is hosted exclusively on RHP here. According to the hack submission, version 1 has two builds:

    Instead of checking the instructions or asking for assistance, our player leaves a review concluding the hack is “unfortunately broken,” when maybe it’s the player who unfortunately won’t read.

    With the Heroine Trilogy translation being a recent addition to the list, the time is ripe for an overview of these mods.

    The mods below are foreign-language mods that have been or are yet to be translated by the English-speaking community.

    For achievement hunters, check out our selection of achievement mods for FFVI hacks, with FFIV-V possibly on the horizon, all courtesy of our contributor solidification. They include many of those on the list, and you can access them here.

    Many of these hacks also have automatic badges and leaderboards on our site, courtesy of clymax. To learn more, click here.

    With the exception of ppml’s mods, which are in Spanish, the mods are in Japanese.

  • Nostalgia’s English Fan Translation Enters Early Access

    Japanese Mod of Final Fantasy V (SFC)

    An English fan translation of FFV: Nostalgia has entered early access courtesy of clymax.

    Nostalgia is a Japanese mod based on Final Fantasy Legends (Final Fantasy Dimensions in the West). The mod is by an anonymous author.

    The mod features imported sprites and tracks alongside some new enemies and items.

    Check back later for more info on the mod.

    The English translation is in the form of a compatibility bridge to the RPGe fan translation of FFV vanilla. Without the compatibility bridge, the mod crashes when attempted to be combined with RPGe.

    The translation is a private mod of the FFV Central community. The private mod is on the rotation of mods that can be obtained through our Whirlwind Fiesta annual summer event. The private mod is also available via Game Jolt.

    Are you a seasoned hacker interested in contributing to the growing and needed space of Final Fantasy V hacks?

    Are you just someone new who’s looking to take a stab at game hacking?

    Are you a fan of classic Final Fantasy?

    We are holding our very first hack jam with a focus on Final Fantasy V for the SNES/Super Famicom, and we want you to join!

    Whether you’re thinking of something grandiose in scale, such as significant story or mechanical tweaks…

    Or you’re more interested in changing some graphics, maybe inserting a new sprite or customizing existing ones…

    Or maybe you want to change some of the wording because you thought some translated thing was a bit strange?

    Binary editor, assembly hacker, or totally new and just looking to try some tools that will do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, you are welcome!

    No hack idea is too small. And the community will vote on the top hacks (or, if you want don’t want your hack voted on, that’s okay, too!).

    If it turns out this is your thing, we have a forum channel where modders help each other. We even have a hacking academy for eligible members.

    Our community of modders has released mods for numerous Final Fantasy titles (and others of various genres and across several platforms), and we’d be happy to provide feedback and assistance in the forum channel as you need it.
