Retro Achievements has apparently added a new moderation feature to its website.
This feature did not appear to be announced anywhere on the website.
Why not?
Was it deemed too revolting to announce?
Then why add such a feature at all?
The relevant pull request into the RAWeb Github repo states the following:
feat: allow moderators to mute users- #2300
When a user is muted, they will no longer be able to comment, post or edit on the forum, or send DMs.
To mute a user, visit…. There is already a field to set the
muted_untilvalue….
Does this show that RA users are just regarded as cattle?
[Update: this feature would later apparently be used as part of the mass silencing, muting, and banning of users as the events of Clovergate unfolded. See the timeline here or the coverage on social media here.
