    Final Fantasy League

    The Whirlwind Four-Job Fiesta (FJF) event has been renewed for a second season, running from June 1 to August 31.

    This was first announced here on Romhack Plaza, affiliate of FFV Central.

    Announcements were later made on Speedrun.com here and on RHDN here.

    The event is based on the FFV: Whirlwind respinner.

    The event remains largely the same as last year’s.

    Whirlwind Fiesta + Communities Collide

    Starting this year, playing in Fiesta mode is required for the event. This means Division III is not available this season except for players who wish to do more than a first run.

    This year, invited communities get three prequalification slots each. Two mystery guests have been invited. In addition, there are two slots for “last-chance qualified” communities to appear as mystery guests. The mystery guests also get three prequalification slots each.

    As with last year, a minimum of eight signups can be required for the event awards to be awardable.

    Starting this year, of the bonus divisions, only Division IV-A is available, and only to members with the Crystal Warrior role.

    Dragon Quest League

    This season, a new league based on the Dragon Quest VI: Aflame respinner is eligible to be opened based on player interest.

    Currently, eligible players can redeem just one mod per season, so choose between Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

    Playing in Fiesta mode is required for the event. Additional runs can be played in other modes.

    Due to the difficult nature of the challenge, players are required to have completed vanilla Dragon Quest VI (SFC or DS version).

    A minimum of eight signups can be required for this league to be opened or, alternatively, for the league of a new mod to be added next season.

    The event seed will be named after Fire Storm from FF6 Hacking to honor his memory.

    Aside from the badge/role awards, the Fiesta Champion of each season will be able to redeem the dev build of any mod from the Game Jolt collection, including all future updates. For more on the mods, click here.

    Or, a three-time champion can redeem a commissioned respinner of a game of the champion’s choosing, where the game is of a supported system (NES, SNES, PCE, GB, GBC).

    Other Rewards

    1. Keep the mod for personal play after the event
    2. Unlock postgame secrets in certain mods
    3. Entry on our event leaderboard and Based Board
    4. Discord roles for certain achievements
    5. Web badges for certain achievements
    6. Bonus division available to players with certain Discord roles in certain seasons
    7. Eventual access to exclusive projects such as certain private translations

    In the recent Whirlwind Fiesta race against Fiesta Roles Leader NeoKakarot, live racer Madness somehow managed to inadvertently trigger the secret boss in Whirlwind.

    This post explores the newly split bonus divisions in the Whirlwind Four-Job Fiesta (FJF) event.

    Only members with the Crystal Warrior role are eligible to enter the bonus divisions, unless an exception is made.

    A. Main Divisions I, II, or III

    Mod: FFV: Whirlwind (SFC)

    Complete your run in one of the three main divisions to qualify for the first bonus division.

    • Division I: Fiesta Competition
    • Division II: Fiesta Challenge
    • Division III: Custom Challenge

    B. Bonus Division IV-A

    Mods (pick only one per season):

    Final Fantasy

    • FF: Headwind (NES)
    • FFII: Upwind (FC)
    • FFIII: Crosswinds (FC)
    • FFIV: Downwind (SFC)

    Complete your run to qualify for the second bonus division.

    Update: due to the introduction of the event roadmap, the following bonus divisions have been suspended until further notice.

    The next bonus division is under planning and is not currently open. If and when that bonus division is open, complete your run in the current bonus division to qualify for the fourth bonus division.
