    According to TheGamer in its article on the subject:

    [I]t seems as though RPG Maker is now capitalizing on the HD-2D boom, and [it] appears to be working on a new project that will let everyone make their own game in that particular art style.

    Announced via RPG Maker publisher Gotcha Gotcha Games in a YouTube video uploaded to its official channel, this title is simply called “New Project” right now, but it’s very clearly attempting to replicate the recent string of HD-2D RPGs that have released recently.

  • Open-Source Engine Pyrite Released

    A new open source game engine and editor aimed at Nintendo 64 homebrew hobbyists interested in making their own N64 projects has been released.

    Pyrite64 is built using community tools and provides a modern interface and workflows that facilitate full 3D games capable of running on real N64 hardware.

    Included in the repo is Cathode Quest 64, a demonstration project already created using Pyrite64 which showcases its tooling and rendering features.

    Project Ultibyte is a retro-inspired indie fighting game mod developed as a standalone fan project by Code Hunter. This Beta 1.0 trailer showcases the core gameplay, classic arcade aesthetics, and fast-paced combat inspired by legendary console and arcade fighting games.

    This is a non-profit fan-made project mod, created by fans for fans, and developed independently from Smash Bros Crusade or any other fangame directive. Project Ultibyte aims to capture the essence of classic retro gaming while delivering modern melee-focused gameplay, carefully tuned for each character.

    The game draws inspiration from iconic eras and platforms such as arcade machines, NES, SNES, Mega Drive, PC Engine, Atari systems, and classic console fighters, blending nostalgia with competitive mechanics.
    This project is still a work in progress, with much more content planned for future updates.
