Having recently accomplished the astounding feat of attaining masteries in the original FFVI, Advance, and over a dozen FFVI mods on Retro Achievements,1 Eltana writes:
So! After much thought, I’ve prepared a tier ranking of all the versions of FFVI I’ve played.
What I want to stress is that this list is based purely on personal enjoyment. If it were based on perceived quality, some of the stranger placements would be much different (BNW, for example, would likely be in the A tier, and Filly Fantasy would probably be in the middle-to-bottom of C tier). With that in mind, hopefully you won’t think I’m -completely- insane.
I should also note that I’ve included both the GBA and Vanilla versions (GBA being the Amano art of Terra). GBA’s placement presumes that it is played with patches that replicate the SNES musical and graphical quality.
