Just posting here that I have messaged the RAdmin on recent events and the double standards of moderation.
No safe or welcoming community should have members that feel safe or enabled to call others slurs or other such things over disagreements.
Never trust people that are trying to appear too clean or virtuous, they are almost always hiding something that their own mother wouldn’t forgive.
I have more time in my day for those with short fuses or genuine frustrations at real world problems than narcissists that actively spend their entire days looking up ways on how they are victims when people don’t agree on every single little minute thing with them.
Mods still haven’t banned anyone for calling others national socialists but they are banning threads and people raising valid concerns.
Once again another communtiy getting ruined by poor choices in moderation. They have the power to keep this community safe and instead they are just fanning the flames.
While this community has no control over what users post offsite it should be in consideration when they proudly link to twitters and bluesky accounts where they promote hatred and violence to people that disagree with them.
I’m really wishing I left this community when they got rid of the likes of FlamingDoom who while always salty directed their hatred at garbage games which is understandable, they should of just been silenced for a while when they were going overboard.
The mods clearly have vendettas against people they disagree with and look for any excuse to ban them. They are going to tank this place if they aren’t reined in and start banning users that are actually breaking the site rules and are posting statements and linking to blogs that if the law sees and someone here commits real world crimes could be used to incriminate the whole userbase and site.
I’m also starting to feel like a hypocrite when I hate people promoting such hatred in real life, but I’m on a site that is promoting it by not banning or timing out any side regardless of whos spouting it, left or right, religous or any other identity should not be welcome if they are harassing or promoting hatred on others.
It would be more fine if the mods banned neither side as at least then it would be fair but by ignoring users that are clearly posting violent statements about real world people if they align to the moderators ideals is clearly a bias and a massive risk to the community.
There only job should have been to protect the community from out right illegal content which they are also failing to do.
Some probaly [sic] think why I don’t become a mod. It’s because I have no interest in being a moderator, as power corrupts and I’ve never been in a community where the mod team hasn’t fallen apart after one mod brings in a “friend” that is actually just a narcissist looking to make the whole community bow to them. I want no part in being associated with such people either.
It’s really dissapointing [sic] at the moment. I don’t care at all about mods becuase [sic] they always seem to attract the worst types of people. But I do care about the developers and the project as a whole.
I’m not a very smart person or someone that has the means to fix or set up a alternative. But if I can help support a fork of the project that has adults or at least people that can act like adults I will.

Being a safe or welcoming community is keeping people that are pillars or have passion for the project, not bending the knee for outsiders that want everything to be about them.
Just going to add at the end of this rant, that real friends have banter with each other, offensive at times but in good meaning, and eternal victims will never ever get to experience that.
B. “I’ll be retiring from RA at the end of the year.”
I’ll be retiring from RA at the end of the year. Unless things come down hard on users spouting insults, slurs or other libel on users that are being levelheaded or trying to keep the peace/wanting to stay neutral.
Not impressed at all, especially when I’m in much larger communities that in reality should have far more problems but don’t. Since the users on them can be adults or at least act like them and the ones that can’t are banned very quickly.
All this site had to be was a host for achievements and leaderboard tracking. But instead it’s devolving in to Bluesky/Twitter/Tumblr community where the userbase is extremely volatile and toxic and the mods are no better.
I don’t care at all about the mod team and the community that they are currentely fostering. Just upset for the developers that made this place fun to be on. If they are gone before the end of the year I will be too. So glad I didn’t really contribute much compared to some, I’d be livid if I was a patreon right now.
Really hoping by the time I’m off my break and go back to RA Discord that a ton of users have been banned or punished.
I’m also hearing that SH has been going on and if that’s true or I find proof of it such users need to be banned or punished on the day, otherwise this place will need to be reported to authorities, I can not at all tolerate SH and any user/mod that tries to defend such actions needs to be investigated and with RA apparantely being hosted in America they are subject to American laws.
I’m not American but if any users/developers need support, I will do my best if I’m online as my timezone doesn’t match with most the community.
Wish this all happened earlier in the year though as I would of left sooner, as I have other projects I should be spending more time on.
C. “The global ranking is pointless now.”
The global ranking is pointless now. A lot of users I was competing with are dropping off or deleting their accounts. Not going to bother with focusing on climbing the ranks now.
Really experiencing what Musashi Miyamoto felt now, what’s the point in competing without rivals?
This feels like if Sasaki Kojiro died from drowning in a cat bowl, except instead of a cat bowl it’s a sewage pipe and the community pushed him in there and expected him to stay there and not leave.
Don’t want to get in a high rank this way at all as that’s just pointless, competing with people that are gone.
May as well just have Retro achievements offline now or play without it entirely.
How many more fails can this community have this year? Multiple devs were forced out early in the year, users were dogpiled over not liking Afterplay which flash to now is likely going to be axed anyway, people left over the choice of charity that they had no say on which is also fair, and with recent issues from antagonistic people raiding the community and the mods/admin fell for it.
Not a single person that started these fights has been punished and it seems like the mod team is cannibalizing itself which if that’s happening then good, I’ve lost a lot of respect for them, especially if what I’m seeing is true and they are trying to throw one of their own under the bus.
None of them are giving the community any information as to what the hell they are doing and I’m going entirely off past experiences from being a veteran with communities falling apart and so far I’m not seeing anything to prove me wrong.
If this is the death of the site then so be it. For being a older crowd they should of been more familiar with how these things work, even in reality this happens and somehow people always fall for it.

Already spending more time in places that aren’t full of identity obsessed psychopaths. They always kill hobby communities, how hard it is it to keep them out?
As soon as you get users trying to bring more attention to who they are instead of the hobby that should be more of enough of an indicator that they need to be kicked out, especially when they have only recently joined.
Seriously no good reasonable person ever has to keep hammering in how good or victimized they are, especially when they always without fail get caught harassing others or trying to goad them in to losing their cool or snapping back at them.
So glad I only work on projects without such people as I’ve being seeing the signs of decline on this site for a while now, and being banned is quickly starting to become a badge of honor as it’s starting to mean “I’m not comfortable with others calling anyone they disagree with Nazis” more than “I broke the site rules and got punished for it”.
The admin and mods essentially bowed to the likes of Chris Chan and that’s terrifying that anyone would do that, a quick search of these people harassing others links to their pages where they are posting vile hatred directed at anyone that doesn’t bow to their delusions including real world people.
I’m fine with whatever happens at the moment since retro games are still fun with or without achievements or the communities around them and the time I had here before all these psychos joined was fun, all good things come to an end and communities are the things that have the shortest lifespans without keeping these psychos out.
I should probally [sic] be giving this a rest anyway, just backing down without a fight is the same as approving these psychopaths. If all this does fall apart I do not want to have been seen as complicit to any actions they are taking in future, people that can’t seperate [sic] fiction from reality are a genuine danger to the real world and that is a fact.
I truly believe that Discord, Bluesky, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr and any other “social media” sites/places are a cancer not just to a silly site about earning achievements in retro games but to humanity as a whole. They enable living in echo chambers where people get too comfortable with others agreeing on them no matter how deranged their ideas are.
Thankful that I am able to live in reality and avoid such places, where someone disagreeing with you isn’t a hate crime or violence. Where my current problems is trying to get morons from dropping 1080 in areas with deer that play with it and spread it to farms and other animals, to stop forestry from leaving slash that actually does kill people during floods, and killing pests that are decimating the native birds and reptiles.
Seriously manufactured suffering is so pathetic and only the modern world is able to keep such people from falling apart at the slightest breeze of discomfort. I’ve said enough for now and I am going to try and get the last of what I started here finished.
Really isn’t a good thing that I’m having to use my wall to talk about such things either, messaging RAdmin has been a waste of time as well. “Open dialogue” does include what idiots are calling “concern trolling”
They are in the right to be concerned when they aren’t safe to use their main accounts to post those concerns. Seriously I’m getting worried now that just by being here that people could use the argument of me supporting such behaviour by staying.
With how things are I wouldn’t be surprised if a user from here commits real world crimes and this whole place gets taken to task. The law doesn’t care about nuances and just wants scapegoats and the media would be no different.
Retroachievements has done nothing to prove that they aren’t complicit with such people by not banning them out right. If they ban you MtlShdwOverlord for trying to bring attention to it before it gets out of hand then the mod team truly is lost and sick in the head.

I feel safe and justified to use my main account because I’d rather be seen getting banned than agreeing or being complicit with such vile and abhorrent behaviour, that if I spouted in real life would get me arrested.

I don’t care that the brownshirts were actual nazis, the tactics of the people harming this site are the same regardless of who uses them and no matter what side they are on they should not be enabled or allowed to operate. Maybe if they actually could read they would learn who they truly are acting like, but I doubt they can they only seem to be able to point out spelling mistakes or grammar issues and try to use that to say what a user has typed out is wrong and if they fail that they call them nazis or bigots.
I’ll be taking screenshots of my wall unedited and saving it on archive.org along with any other places people ask me to. Since I don’t trust the mod team to have my back, the one guy on this site that has a profile picture of a character that kills the monsters they and the community they are fostering claim others to be. Can’t be bothered to save much else, just want to have recourse for the future if someone asks “weren’t you a part of that site where people celebrate politcal [sic] violence and silence dissent?”.
Trying to type as civily [sic] as I can but I’m pretty livid at how people are being treated. I don’t care at all about what happens in fiction, only reality and the reality is that levelheaded and mature people are getting chased off the site.
