  • FF Mystic Quest: Mystified Released

You can follow clymax’s projects via FFVC or YouTube.

The Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: Mystified mod has been released courtesy of clymax.

Like all of clymax’s rando mods, it’s a self-randomizer, so just simply reset the game to play a new seed.

A release build for Romhack Plaza is being considered, or you can get early access to the dev build on Game Jolt.

    Release Build: Features

Chests give you randomized items. Seeding not yet supported.

    Development Build: Features

Dummy items have been filtered out from being rolled.

Doors in Focus Tower have been pre-opened.

Seeding now supported based on the first five letters of Benjamin’s name. The order of opening chests doesn’t matter yet. To get this to work, the save ram has been expanded from 8KB to 64KB.

The Life Indicator toggle now doubles as a Chest Rando toggle.

The default setting for that toggle has been changed to Rando ON (numerical life indicator).

All areas are unlocked to start.

The order of opening chests now matters.

So, what do you think? Was Square correct in shelving Final Fantasy Extreme in favor of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest? If you could improve one thing about the game, what would it be?

  • Secret of Mana Climate Crisis Edition Released

You can follow TOMM’s work on RHDN or Hackofmana.

The Secret of Mana Climate Crisis mod has been released courtesy of TOMM.

For the hack publication, click here.

    Writes TOMM:

Three decades since its original release, chaos finds its way into the legendary SNES RPG Secret of Mana. This project was lovingly undertaken by a single fan of the game over the course of two years.

This hack invites you to rediscover the world of Secret of Mana, now facing new climatic conditions.

Visual changes: Potos under snow, Pandora frozen… and way more! Maps and monsters have been recolored to create colorful new landscapes.

Maps modifications: Embark on a journey through familiar maps with carefully placed changes that might impede your progress. Additionally, seven areas have have seen their rooms moved around for more thrill.

Palaces and Magic chaos: Palaces now harbor different mana elements, thus unlocking magic spells in a new order. Some spells have been modified and moved from one elemental to the other.

Lore: While the main storyline remains unchanged, townsfolk may react to the shifting climate, adding a dose of humor and depth to the experience.

For a Let’s Play of this mod, stay tuned.
