Special thanks to Kain Stryder for troubleshooting assistance and for maintaining the Mato translation beyond v2.9.4 and for the Lua translation. You can follow Kain’s work via NG Plus, RHDN, or YouTube.

    1. Floating Continent Glitch Fixes for FFVI: T-Edition (SFC)

For the publication of the base hack, Tsushiy Edition (T-Edition), which is in Japanese, click here. You can follow Tsushiy via YouTube.

    Stable Build

For the publication of the glitch fixes as a hack addendum, click here. Only applies to T-Edition v2.9.6+.

Confirmed to work with the Mato translation and the Lua translation of T-Edition. You can find the Lua translation here.

    Dev Build

For the dev build, come by our Discord. Includes the features from the stable build plus the additional features below.

The trophy for taking ~200,000 steps now activates correctly.

This bug appears to have been fixed previously in the Mato translation. But only now has the fix been isolated and backported to the Japanese original via reimplementation.

To avoid bifurcating the patch for the Japanese original, the steps portion of the patch is compatible with the Mato translation only if the patch is applied first.

    2. Floating Continent Glitch Fixes for Mato Translation of FFVI: T-Edition (SFC)

For the publication of the base translation by Tomato (Mato), currently maintained by Kain Stryder on New Game Plus, click here. You can find the original publication via Mato’s older site or RHDN; you can follow Mato via his new site or YouTube.

    Stable Build

For the publication of the Glitch Fixes as a translation addendum, click here.

Confirmed to work with the Mato translation of T-Edition.

    Dev Build

For the dev build, come by our Discord. Includes the features from the stable build plus the additional features below.

    Kefka small battle sprite fixed.

    Catoblepas can now be fought.

Strago wearing the Lunar Cloak no longer causes Asura or Phoenix Espers or certain magic to be lost with Terra in your party.

Gau can now equip the Atma Weapon. This accompanied a menu update in T-Edition, and that update has yet to be made compatible with the Mato translation.

The trophy for getting all the Espers is now awarded in Narshe Beginner House.

The above fixes are for v3.0.5+.

The Floating Continent fix and the Kefka fix also apply to v2.9.7, while the rest do not apply other than Catoblepas, which requires backporting.

The following fix was specifically backported to v2.9.7: Catoblepas can now be fought.

This fix is available as part of a standalone patch for v2.9.7 via Discord.

    3. Esper Two-Column Reversion for Lua Translation of FFVI: T-Edition (SFC)

This fix is available via Discord.

The Lua translation is by Serity, Lazarus, and Kain Stryder. You can find more info on it here, while the latest downloads can be found here.

The Ablaze mod of Dragon Quest on SFC has been unveiled courtesy of clymax. The full title of the base game is Dragon Quest I&II. The mod is for use with RPGONE’s English fan translation v2.0 (DW ver).

The mod is unofficial and unaffiliated with Square Enix.

Like all of clymax’s rando mods, it’s a respinner as opposed to a repatcher, so just simply reset the game to play a new randomization.

For patching instructions, project status, or other assistance, please check us out on Discord. A teaser trailer is below.

    Release Build: Features

A release build is now available on Romhack Plaza here.

    Chest items are randomized.

Chests in the throne room are excluded from randomized contents. This is to avoid a softlock if you do not get a Magic Key or Wings of Wyvern.

    Development Build: Features

The dev build is on the rotation of mods that can be obtained through our Whirlwind Fiesta annual summer event. For players who do not wish to join the event, do not wish to use Discord, or wish to support the hack author, early access is also available via Game Jolt.

    Opening dialogue skipped.

Start with a Wing of the Wyvern. This ensures you can escape the throne room.

Magic Key, Wing of the Wyvern, and Torch can be used infinitely.

No more random encounters. Hold A to get random encounters.

Earned experience and gold each boosted to 64x.

Poison tiles and barrier tiles no longer bring your health below one.

    Rainbow bridge pre-built.

    Enemies randomized.

Seeding now supported. The first five characters of your name form your seed.

Ensures the King always gives you the option to save your progress.

Support added for saving and loading the RNG state of the rando mod.

Support added for auto seeding. Enter “auto” (without the quotes) to use this feature.

Disables randomized enemies in Charlock Castle. This allows endgame farming.

A demo clip of randomized enemies is below.

  • Case Study: Player Etiquette in the Romhacking Scene

    Final Fantasy Series Translations

For clymax’s projects, click here. You can also follow him on YouTube or Twitter.

The following reflects the personal opinion of clymax and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of any other individual of the FFV Central community or of the community as a whole.

On an unspecified FF Discord, a player learns about a private mod of our community.

He’s then encouraged to join by a member of the translation team of the mod in question.

On FFV Central Discord, the player joins and dips immediately after obtaining the private mod.

It’s a translation our team had been working on for over a year – for a mod that spans three roms.

In contrast, the player’s total time spent on the server was not even three minutes.

Back on the unspecified FF Discord, the player raves that the private mod he just took “fucking rules.”

Maybe it does. Unlike his player etiquette though, which fucking sucks.
