Do you think that everything that can be found in this great 16 y.o. game was found? Wrong! A very interesting glitch (actually code from beta) was found by me. Credit goes to Sadiztyk Fish for pointing out where the code should be activated.

    1. Stand in front of the door leading to Golden Torizo room (no matter from which side). You should be in 3-4 blocks before the border of screen.
    2. Shoot the door to open it.
    3. Morph into the ball.
    4. Lay a bomb.
    5. Roll ahead a bit.
    6. When diagonally bounced by the bomb, press and hold A+B+X+Y. As for me, I’ve used key combo feature in Zsnes because I can’t hold more than 3 button in a time. You should enter the door (that’s why 3-4 blocks)
    7. Enter Golden Torizo room in ball form and keep holding buttons. Of course, you can enter this room while running, but the game will crash then.

    Effect will suprise you

    You’ll get:
    700 Energy (max and current)
300 Reserve Energy (max and current)
    100 Missiles (max and current)
20 Super Missiles (max and current)
20 Power Bombs (max and current)
All 5 beams collected and equipped (deselect Spazer or Plasma in menu)
All items except Screw Attack and unknown item with value 0010 (possibly, beta value of Screw Attack or beta value of Hyper Beam)

Be warned! It affects already collected items. Even if you have 200 Missile, after doing all this you’ll get 100 in total and can’t re-collect items

I think, this code is used to test Golden Torizo and [its] special abilities against Missiles and Super Missiles

Community member JAM explained that [reverse engineering] felt like being a “cyber-archeologist.”

JAM actually stumbled upon [the Golden Torizo cheat code] while looking through the raw assembly code for the game, then posted it on the forum for others to investigate.

  • Final Fantasy V Remix: Master Thief Released

You can follow clymax’s projects via FFVC or YouTube.

The Master Thief mod of the Final Fantasy V: Remix (FF5R) mod of Final Fantasy V on SFC has been released via commission and courtesy of clymax.

The Master Thief mod is also compatible with derivative mods, such as waterga’s IC mod (FF5r-IC).

It belongs to the new lineup of “Super Cheat” mods by clymax. They go beyond what cheat codes can typically give you. This lets you take full control of your gameplay.

A release build for Romhack Plaza is being considered, or you can get early access to the dev build on Game Jolt.

    Development Build: Features

Grind epic loot like never before! A single patch gives you max steal chance in the Remix mod and across all three rom chapters of the seminal IC mod.

The base mod, Remix, supports multiple steal attempts on the same enemy. The Super Cheat boosts steal chance to 100% even without Thief’s Glove equipped.

In the Super Cheat, the outcome of “doesn’t have anything!” no longer applies. You can now steal more copies of an item you’ve already stolen.

The Super Cheat lets you steal from the enemy’s item slots in a cycle, as shown in these screenshots from IC.

The item slots are stolen from in the following order: common steal, rare steal, rare drop, common drop. Note that in Remix and IC, common drops have a 100% chance to drop.

If the bestiary has no item assigned to that enemy item slot, you’ll steal an empty item (“”).

For what it’s worth, a different enemy form can have a different set of slots you can steal from.

So, what do you think? Where does FF5r-IC rank among Japanese mods of the SFC trilogy of the Final Fantasy series? How do you think it compares to FFV Remix? Comment below, or come check us out on Discord.

  • Final Fantasy C2: Item Master Released

You can follow clymax’s projects via FFVC or YouTube.

The Item Master mod of the Final Fantasy C2 mod of Final Fantasy IV on SFC has been released via commission and courtesy of clymax.

A new Drop Rarity slider puts control right in your hands.

The default slider value gives you normal drop behavior.

The next four notches let you control loot rarity. Of these, the first notch guarantees a common drop from every enemy.

The second notch guarantees a tier-one rare drop from every enemy.

The third notch guarantees a tier-two rare drop from every enemy.

The fourth notch guarantees a tier-three rare drop from every enemy. This is the highest tier of rarity.

So, what do you think? Where does Final Fantasy C2 rank among Japanese mods of the SFC trilogy of the Final Fantasy series? How do you think it compares to Final Fantasy II on the Famicom? Comment below, or come check us out on Discord.

  • Commission a Self-Randomizing or Other Mod

Want to see your favorite game get randomized items every reset? Here’s your chance!

For clymax’s projects, click here. You can also follow him on YouTube.

For the first time, under a new pilot, players can commission research by clymax into creating romhack of their choice.

    Mod TypeCost (USD)
    Custom Cheat45
    MSU-1 Compatibility95
    Self Randomizer145
    Menu Translation of FFV Mod495

Crowdfunding may also be available. Under crowdfunding, each participant gets at least one game key regardless of the amount contributed. Contributions can be refunded if the crowdfunding target is not met by a deadline if one is set.

For more details or to discuss a commission, visit the comissions topic in the help channel of the Discord. You can also DM clymax.

    Custom-Cheat Mod

Similar terms as for self-rando mods, but the cost is a flat fee shown in the above table, for five game keys for the custom-cheat mod.

    MSU1-Compatibility Mod

Similar terms as for self-rando mods, but the cost is a flat fee shown in the above table, for five game keys for the MSU1-Compatibility mod.

Menu Translation of FFV Mod of Your Choice

Similar terms as for self-rando mods, but the cost is a flat fee shown in the above table, for ten game keys for the Menu Translation mod.

    Self-Randomizer Mod

No, these are not site-based or app-based randos. Instead, on every reset you can get a new randomization.

    Terms

    1. The research will be for creating an item randomizer for the chosen game. The game must not be a hack or a homebrew.
    2. No randomization scheme beyond L1 randomization is guaranteed. See clymax’s projects page here for more info on randomization schemes.
    3. The research can be commissioned by arranging for a pre-alpha version of the romhack to be listed on a digital store and purchasing the pre-alpha version.
    4. The cost of the commission is a flat fee shown in the above table. Please note, to enable the low cost, no refunds will be provided.
    5. Although no ETA is provided for completing the research and delivering an initial build of the hack, a turnaround time of one to seven calendar days can be typical.
    6. A special Commissioner role is available to be awarded to the player in the Discord.
    7. If the research is successful, the player will receive nine additional game keys for the item-randomizing romhack to share with others (for ten copies total of the romhack patch). The game keys include access to all future updates to the romhack.
    8. The initial release of the romhack can be anywhere from an alpha state to a beta state. The work under the commission concludes when the romhack is anywhere from a beta state to a release state.
    9. If the research proves unsuccessful, the player can choose a different game to research. Effectively, the player does not pay for a failed research attempt. This process can repeat until research is successful.
    10. To enable the low cost of the commission, the modder retains all rights related to the romhack. The modder can maintain the hack as a private hack and, just like a private hack that was not commissioned, add the commissioned private hack as a listing on a digital store.
    11. To be clear, the commission does not include any public release of the romhack in any form.
    12. To enable the low cost, no major updates are guaranteed for a commissioned romhack. But additional commissions can be considered to expedite developing the romhack further.
    13. Currently, only the Super Nintendo and Super Famicom are supported as systems.
    14. The modder has discretion to decline a request for any reason or for no reason. Games listed as being unsuitable for rando modding are not eligible.
    15. All rights belong to their respective owners. No laws are violated by the commission, any work under the commission, or distribution of any deliverable resulting from the work.
