Recoined as FFV: Autumn Challenge via editorial discretion for purposes of the writer’s posts on this blog. Aki is taken to mean autumn in this context.
The game difficulty is significantly increased from vanilla.
Official name stays the same and will still be referenced.
For Serity’s fan translation of this mod on RHDN, see here.
IC has no particular meaning.
Recoined as FFV: Heroine Trilogy via editorial discretion for purposes of the writer’s posts on this blog.
As the name suggests, this mod features a heroine instead of Bartz, and the mod itself spans three roms.
Heroine Trilogy uses Autumn Challenge as a base. However, players need not concern themselves with this detail, especially with the advent of our web patcher.
The game difficulty for the most part is on par with vanilla.
Our translation team should ideally reach a unanimous decision before an official renaming can happen.
For now, the official name stays the same and will still be referenced.

Exclusive font, script, and icon improvements along with a curated compilation of QoL and bugfixes.
The mod author is currently considering a rebranding.
My personal suggestion is to keep the current branding using the recoined names, i.e., FFV: Clean Edition and Autumn Challenge: Clean Edition.
The reasoning is that the same approach is taken in both versions in terms of what’s being changed.
To call them something different would seem to be more confusing. You may even find yourself explaining to someone, “Oh, ‘Sparkles’ is just ‘Clean’ but for Autumn Challenge” (made-up example).
This post will be updated when more details from the mod author become available.

This mod title is pretty self-explanatory, so it won’t need to be localized.

The naming of this mod can be revisited if and when a fan translation of this mod becomes available.
clymax’s upcoming compilation mod of Inu’s work will be dubbed Boco’s FFV. More details to be released in the near future.

A full remake of Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy, a Final Fantasy fan game developed in RPG Maker 2003 from 2003 to 2011, is set to launch next year, according to fangame author UPRC. The author provides more details below.

A Final Fantasy fan game that I started long ago in 2003 and completed in 2011, and now being remade in 2025, that is meant to emulate the first six entries of the series (though I mostly focus on FF4 and FF5 for gameplay and mapping, and FF6 for battle aesthetics). Aside from just being a fan game, Blackmoon Prophecy is also a tribute to Final Fantasy in the sense that I’m trying to put together many of the things I loved about playing RPGs growing up into this game. It’s a love letter to retro gaming and our childhoods.

The original seemed to be between 40 and 60 hours for most players, and I’m aiming for the same with the remake.

Why do people cosplay instead of design their own costumes? Why do people draw fan art instead of their own characters? Why do composers make covers of video game songs instead of their own compositions? The answer to all of these, as well of with other examples, is for a number of reasons. They want to pay homage or tribute to something they loved growing up, or are just passionate about today. They like networking with other people who share their same passion, and they like putting their own spin on something that they love to say, “I did this because it means a lot to me.” This is why people also make fan games, and it is part of the reason why, after all these years, I’m returning to Blackmoon Prophecy.

The original Blackmoon Prophecy is a game that I have been deeply unhappy with for several years now, and despite my best attempts to want to make something original, interest in Blackmoon Prophecy has never really fully waned over the years, and I often get people reaching out to me to talk about their experiences with the game. I have gotten more feedback/inquiries/etc. about the original Blackmoon Prophecy than everything else combined that I’ve made from 2000-2025. To this day, I still find people uploading playthroughs of the game on YouTube, streaming it on Twitch, mentioning it on totally unrelated websites and Discord servers, including it in articles, and more. It’s truly been inescapable for me, and I’ve realized it will forever be what has the most interest/pull of my projects, and I don’t have a problem with this. Fan game or original game, as long as my most successful project is enjoyed by a lot of people, I’m happy.

I decided that, if Blackmoon Prophecy will be my “game dev legacy”, then it should be something that I can be proud of. This is what drove me to decide to fully remake the game in RPG Maker MV. I’ve been having a lot of fun remaking this game after I started doing so in April 2025, and I fully intend on releasing the remake sometime in the first half of 2026! Testing should conclude sometime between late March and mid May 2026 with a full release not long after that.
