  • Party Changer Mod Released

Romhack of Final Fantasy IV (SNES)

    Says mod author Whitenoise81:

This mod is for others who wish to mod FF4 and freely be able to change party members without them losing their stats or equipment. This does not change anything else about the original game. Be aware that although things look normal on the surface a few things had to be switched around behind the scenes to get it to work correctly.

(Credit where it is due) This mod was created using the old Shadow Mod from Phoenix Hacks, Grimoire LD’s event instruction skip mod, as well as PinkPuff’s amazing FF4rkster program to create a full party change aboard the Lunar Whale after beating the Babil Giant. It could not have been done without these things as well as some technical help from Chillyfeez of the Ultima discord server.

Simply walk onto the panel on the right side of the ship below the right exit. It will ask if you want to reset the party. This will remove everyone but Cecil from your party and instruct you to exit and re-enter the ship. The exit and re-enter is necessary to refresh the npc’s on the map.

All of the characters that were ever in your party throughout the game are available. It is also easily possible to get Dark Knight Cecil and Child Rydia with a few modifications.

The dummied battle commands have also been restored for good measure.

You can find the hack publication on RHDN here.

  • Is This the Worst Final Fantasy V Challenge?

Video creator Seer recently took an uncharacteristic series detour to take on his FFVI challenge.

This sparked rampant viewer speculation on whether he had been bested by FFV.

    Says Seer:

Final Fantasy 5 is one of the most played entries in the series when it comes to challenge runs.

The way the game is designed, it’s easy to remove numerous sources of power to make the experience that much more harrowing.

Knowing this, I decided I could do something a little more meta; remove the usage of the menu.

It turns out, that is one source of power that you SHOULD NEVER remove.

And now we must ask whether beating Final Fantasy 5 Without the Menu, Running, or Spending Gil is a reasonable thing to achieve?

    The answer is definitely not.
