  • Romhacking.net Rejects Link Exchange with Gaming Fansite for Giving Coverage to Alternative Repository

Claims Romhack Plaza “Actively Sabotages” RHDN

For clymax’s projects, click here. You can also follow him on YouTube or Twitter.

[Editor’s note: the info in this post is shared for the sake of transparency and accountability in the romhacking scene. Please do not contact or harass any party known or believed to be involved, due to this post.]

In response to an invitation to exchange links with a gaming fansite (not named in this post), RHDN allegedly responded:

Right away in your ‘Applying ROMhack Patches (NES & SNES)’, there is no mention of ROMhacking.net anywhere, or its online patcher (https://www.romhacking.net/patch/).

Instead, it was chosen to feature romhackplaza.org/romhacks.org which actively sabotages our site (https://www.reddit.com/r/romhacking/comments/18xgc3b/romhacksorg_admin_sabotaged_romhackingnet).

We can’t be affiliated with such nonsense. Sorry.

This is despite the cited Reddit thread being nearly three years old.

It is despite the individual alleged to have engaged in the activity having been removed from site staff along with an official explanation being given. If you’re unaware, see the Related Post below.

And it is despite both romhacking repositories having since apparently changed owners.

More importantly, the claim that RHDN is still being actively sabotaged seems spurious on its face. No evidence was provided in support of that assertion.

Is this what our romhacking community should be all about?

So, what do you think? Comment below, or come check us out on Discord.

  • Blackmoon Prophecy Discord Channel Launched

Unofficial Venue Following the Official Server’s Deletion

FFV Central has launched an unofficial Discord channel in support of the Blackmoon Prophecy series by fangame author UPRC. For how to join, click here.

The channel is launched in response to the sudden removal and ongoing absence of a chat venue for fans of the fangame series on Discord.

FFV Central already offers player support and modder support for various RPG franchises across different platforms.

    Official Discord Deleted by Author

As reported on the r/FinalFantasy subreddit here, shortly after the remake released, the Discord server was suddenly shut down, and the website was updated to say the remake cannot be supported at this time.

A Reddit user in the know posted what appears to be a Discord-DM screenshot (not reproduced here) and summarized it as follows:

Update: Dev had a m[e]ntal breakdown due to a variety of factors in his personal life and the fan game getting a decent bit of popularity sent him over the edge.

The fangame author himself later confirmed that there will no longer be any Discord server moving forward here:

There is no longer a dedicated Discord server.

We await UPRC’s return to social media and wish him well.
