The “Final Fantasy IV: Ultima Plus” mod has been released courtesy of 8-bit fan. You can follow his projects here.

After the original “Final Fantasy IV Ultima” project officially concluded in 2024, a group of hackers (including members of Team Ultima) began this offshoot project and eventually settled on the title, “Final Fantasy IV Ultima Plus”.
Team Ultima is:

To sum up the changes to Ultima Plus versus Ultima Classic, xJ4cks observed that:
The main hacker chillyfeez upgraded the battle formation logic, allowing all five characters to be in the front or back rows for more strategic depth in tough fights. He also improved the game’s menu system, and it’s now possible to change between characters’ equipment smoothly, and to recast healing spells much more quickly between battles.
FlamePurge, author of the “Project II” translation that “Ultima Classic” is based on, completely overhauled the script for “Ultima Plus”. Every dialog box was considered and over 90% were improved for better characterization and plot development, and to tie together the whole game’s story more cohesively.
New icons were created (by many of the Team) to describe the battle system’s elements more clearly, and all items in the game now feature icons in front to help players understand their functions.
Over 100 new optional graphics patches to change the main characters were created, drawing upon the talents of many sprite artists in the FF4Ultima Discord community. Pre-made “style packs” of new graphics are available on this romhack’s custom patching website, to make it easy to change the whole cast’s appearance. And 7 new fonts are offered, for even more custom options when enjoying Ultima Plus.
