Vaporized Romhack Enters Closed Beta [Update: Released]

The Vaporized respinner of Mega Man X3 on SNES has entered closed beta courtesy of clymax.

This mod is unofficial and is unaffiliated with Capcom.

A respinner refers to an internal randomizer, as opposed to an external one, which we refer to as a repatcher.

With a respinner, simply reset the game to play a new randomization. Some respinners even let you play a vanilla game with enhanced QoL.

This mod was made using binary editing in a debugging emulator. No game-specific editing tool was used.

A release build for Romhack Plaza will eventually be considered, but a release is not guaranteed and has no ETA. [Editor’s note: see below for an update.]

    Update on 1/11/26

    Release Build: Features

The release build is available on Romhack Plaza here.

Every Maverick you defeat, your X-Buster levels up for more damage.

All levels of Buster charge get the same bonus damage.

This completes the Vaporized trilogy of the Mega Man X series.

    Development Build: Features

    Tester: Erdasin

The password system has been at least partially disabled due to the new features but can be investigated later.

For a limited time, eligible players can get early access to the dev build via the Rando-Speedrun Pilot here.

The dev build is on the rotation of mods that can be obtained through our Whirlwind Fiesta annual summer event. For players who do not wish to join the event, do not wish to use Discord, or wish to support the hack author, early access is also available via Game Jolt.

In any case, hop on our Discord to show support for more features being added.

    Saber Module

Your Z-Saber now has a dedicated button: the X button.

You can use the Z-Saber without getting that upgrade.

However, your saber damage starts at zero.

Every Maverick you defeat, your Z-Saber levels up for more damage.

To clarify, although you should be able to get the actual Z-Saber upgrade if you wanted, that Z-Saber behaves the same as the early Z-Saber.

For balancing purposes, the Buster damage bonus has been removed, favoring an exclusive Saber damage bonus instead.

The Saber can be canceled by ground-dashing, air-dashing, or up-dashing.

A gameplay demo of the Saber module is below.

    Open Module

The intro stage is now skipped.

You can now exit any stage, including unbeaten stages.

Bosses only have minimal invulnerability frames when taking damage.

    Capsule dialogue is skipped.

The cutscene unveiling the Doppler stages is skipped.

The cutscene unearthing Dr. Doppler’s Laboratory is skipped.

You can now access the first Doppler stage from the start.

    Boss re-fights are now skipped.

You can now always get the Hyper Chip / Gold Armor. Note that it does not come with armor parts.

You can now get an enhancement chip even without the related upgrade part.

You can also get multiple enhancement chips.

Cycle through the Doppler stages by activating the X icon on the stage-select screen.

You can now interface with a Ride Armor once you’ve obtained any of the four Ride Armors.

    Update on 5/15/26

    Quality-of-Life Module

You now get nine lives instead of two when starting. Sams goes for when continuing or entering a password.

    Sub Tanks come prefilled.

Player i-frames now two seconds instead of one.

You can now dash infinitely with the right upgrades. Also, dash speed increased.

Sub-tanks are auto-refilled when you continue (but not when you lose a life).

Many enemies will now give a guaranteed random drop.

X4-style ground dashing jumps have been added. This lets you keep the dash button held.

    Update on 1/10/26

    Zero Module

You can now summon Zero to any stage.

No limit to how many times you can summon in the current stage.

You can summon Zero to boss fights.

    Zero can use Maverick weapons.

Zero now shares the same max health as X.

Zero will no longer be put out of commission when defeated. Instead, he’ll share the same stock of extra lives as X.

You’ll now start your next life as the same character you lost your last life as.

You’ll start your next stage as the same character you beat the last stage as.

Save RAM has been added to store Zero’s current health.

Losing a life or losing all lives does not replenish the other character’s health.

Zero can collect hearts, sub-tanks, capsule upgrades, and Ride-Armor chips.

Zero can use Ride Armors, though he’ll appear as an off-color X.

    Zero can air dash.

Because up-dashing as Zero leads to graphical glitches, protection has been added to prevent up-dashing as Zero.

The glitches arise from the lack of up-dashing sprites for Zero.

Zero can collect health to fill sub-tanks.

You are no longer forced to swap back to X once when approaching a boss room.

    Zero can use sub-tanks.

You can now press Select to quickly swap characters. See the demo below.

    Update on 1/13/26

    Rando Module

When you pick up health or weapon energy, there’s a random chance to get awarded a boss weapon.

The award includes powering up your Z-Saber by one level.

The award also includes marking the Maverick as being defeated.

Rando can be turned off by setting sound mode to monaural.

    Support added for manual seeding.

Password entry has been repurposed into seed entry.

Only the first ten numbers are considered your seed.

Cancel out of password entry and start your game the normal way (rather than using the Start button).

Ten 1’s will give you an unseeded run. Anything else is considered a manual seed.

A showcase run demonstrating the rando module is below.

The leaderboard submission for the run is here.

    Update on 6/9/26

    Quick-Save Module

Auto saving when choosing to Exit a stage.

Press and hold the Select button right after starting a game to load your save.

More features will be announced here as they become available.

A Four-Job Fiesta mode is currently being voted on in our flagship Discord.

In the meantime, challenge Sigma directly, or farm the Mavericks to power up your Z-Saber!

    4. Tellah’s Trainees by Free Enterprise

    When: ongoing

    Target: aspiring racers

    Base game: FFIV

    Commitment: 8 weeks

    Host: FF4FE

    Since: 2025 (event), 2018 (randomizer)

    Courtesy of FF4FE’s Wrexsoul:

It is my pleasure and honor to announce the return of the Tellah’s Trainees Club! After a notable hiatus, the introductory club for new players is active once again. However, it wouldn’t be much of a return without some notable fanfare, would it?

The Tellah’s Trainees Club has recruited some new leaders from the community to assist in broadening its scope and experience, two of whom were graduates of the original Tellah’s Trainees program. RobsatPlays and Drinks Glue have elevated the knowledge base and perspective of the future direction of the Club, having experienced it firsthand when it was formed. Currently, they are working alongside FE veteran BeautyInDiscovery to develop and unveil a competitive season format to add to the instructional curriculum of Tellah’s Trainees.

For those with exposure to the World Collide community, its origin draws influence from the Moogle Cup and should be quite exciting!

In addition to the upcoming season format, we wanted to broaden our scope so that graduates and veterans could have a more active role in the Club. While they continue to be instrumental in its success by providing tips and insight on the seeds, as well as answering questions from our newbie runners, it was time to have something else to help our up-and-coming runners continue to grow. So, to accommodate this, the Club has new site for information! Tellah’s Trainees Club Site

The website will replace the previously used Google Sheet that housed all the flagsets for the curriculum that allowed those runners who joined the community after the rotation began to catch up. However, the site is much more than that! It includes intermediate flagsets that introduce other flags and club flagsets, as well as allow our fresh graduates to try out some previously used tournament seeds. Want to really stretch your knowledge? Try one of our rolled seeds in the Advanced section curated by our community that will have you muttering to yourself as you fight through adversity to complete the seed.

So, I welcome both new players and veterans alike back to the Tellah’s Trainees Club and to be on the lookout for announcements of the upcoming season format, as well as our first seed in the new rotation!

Final Fantasy V: Super X-Magic (SFC)

    December 25, 2025

As promised, for Christmas I have a new romhack that has been highly requested in the past. It allows characters using the X-Magic command to use ALL spells they have learned from other jobs automatically. 🎄🎁

It also causes Red Magic to be 1 level higher than before. Therefore, Red Mages can use White and Black Magic up to level 4 like in Bravely Default. This makes Red Mages useful for a lot longer, even without X-Magic.

My next project is my Super Passives patch. It makes all passive abilities equipped automatically as soon as they are learned. This includes the ability’s function, stat increases, and weapon/armor equips. It radically changes how you play the game.

It’s a BIG patch, so it will take awhile to convert it to assembly.

Final Fantasy Adventure Level Balancer (GB)

    January 2, 2026

I had some free time today, so I decided to release another romhack.

I always hated that 1 of the 4 stats doesn’t increase on level up, so this fixes that.

Also, the offensive spells Ice, Lightning, and Nuke had their costs lowered to 1 so that focusing on magic attacks in combat is more viable in the late game.

This patch includes Adam’s Color patch because I say NO to black and white whenever I can. 😎

For those prone to getting lost, a World Map file is included.
