The Diamond of Light expansion is our localized name for this mod.

The original name is Galahad & Sherah Battle + Minor Adjustments Patch.

The latest version of this mod is believed to be version 6.5.

A. Usage Instructions

The mod is designed for use with Romancing SaGa version 1.1.

To use this patch, you will need the freeware tool:
WinIPS
SMB Laboratory
http://47.tok2.com/smblabo/

Attention!
This patch must be applied to a Ver 1.1 ROM. It will not function correctly if applied to a Ver 1.0 ROM.

B. Expansion

  • If you attempt to take the Ice Sword from Galahad—even by killing him for it—a battle with Galahad will be triggered. He will wield the Ice Sword he just lost, using techniques like “Winter Storm” (Fuyu no Arashi) against you.
  • Added the “Diamond of Light” (Hikari no Diamond) event. By meeting specific conditions, you can battle Sherah.

C. Changes

  • If a party member is removed after 1,040 or more total battles, they will reappear in Crystal City every 256 battles. (Once the total exceeds 55,000 battles, this interval changes to every 512 battles.)
  • Modification and expansion of areas where dialogue events occur.
  • You can now battle rare monsters (Giant Octopus, Manticore, Griffin, Merman, Flocken) as well as certain unused/cut monsters (Barbatos, Schwarzkatz).
  • Destiny Stones (other than the Aquamarine and Amethyst) now provide resistance to specific elements or status ailments (consistent with the WSC version).
  • Access to Copper Pass (requires defeating Death in the Underworld at least once).
  • Spells of the “Darkness” and “Malice” (Evil Energy) schools are now available for purchase (sold at Copper Pass).

Various other minor details have also been adjusted.
