Writes Neo fresh off of clearing Dragon Quest I on stream (playlist here):
Time to play the legendary JRPG that started it all!
The first Dragon Quest game, this will be a playthrough stream of the SNES version of the game!
However this time it’s randomized by my fellow friend, youtuber and Rom hacker @cIymax!
This Rom hack is called Dragon Quest: Ablaze and I will be doing a blind speed run of it!
The finale of the stream will be a giveaway of @cIymax’s version of this hack for the NES version of Dragon Quest I, the amount of copies given will be determined by how many likes this stream gets!

A respinner, also called a respin hack, is a romhack that lets you easily respin game elements for a different gameplay experience.
The term “respinner” in this context was coined by clymax in 2026 to better differentiate such mods from randomizers, the vast majority of which are external, web-based or app-based randomizers rather than integrated, internal, or self-randomizers.
In addition, the term “repatcher” was also coined by clymax to refer to external randomizers.
Resetting the romhack and trying a new seed is analogized to respinning a roulette wheel to get a new result.
All known respinners are grouped by platform below. Not all are public mods; some are private mods.
Note that some of the detail in the tables are still being finalized and so are subject to change.
